luckione:  What if you use the lanterns as a backdrop for the ceremony, and make an archway out of the cherry blossoms? Or, you could have tall floor vases filled with the cherry blossoms at the reception space while still using the lanterns as a backdrop.

The lanterns could also be hung and used as decoration on the pews/chairs at your ceremony space.

As for your reception, I would do cherry blossom centerpieces and hang the lanters from the ceiling/tent/surrounding trees depending on where your reception space is.

Check out some of these photos below for inspiration, and see if you can imagine how both would mesh. I think both of your ideas could definitely be merged into one!

The cherry blossoms are beautiful and can really be mind blowing.

But, they can get pretty expensive, if money is no option I would totally go for the cherry blossoms, though!

Sorry to blow up your thread, but here are some more inspiration photos:

I could just imagine cherry blossom centerpieces, with your beautiful lanterns hanging above the dance space! To die for 😀

luckione:  Holy crap! That is a beautiful, beautiful venue! I’m thinking maybe string fishing wire or thin rope across the room so it stretches over and above the dance flor and thread the lanters on that way? I’m sure you could find a way, anything is possible!

luckione:  Yes, a lantern backdrop would be awesome, and then use cherry blossom centerpieces!  The best of both worlds!

luckione:  is that empire garden in Boston? 🙂 looks very familiar! I am also considering cherry blossoms for my Boston wedding in April 2015 and funny enough, I had the same inspiration photo! I haven’t had much luck though, most florists have told me that April is the end of cherry blossom season and it may be hard to get. Let me know if you end up doing cherry blossoms and find a florist/supplier! And I’ll do the same? Thanks!

luckione:  that is a beautiful space. I personally dont think the lanterns would fit… They tend to go more with outdoor/rustic settings. I would keep with the flowers. 🙂
