My date is Aug 8th 2015 🙂 …I chose that date because Im getting married in a church dedicated to St Mary and the feast of St Mary is on the 15th Aug.  So the church would be all decorated from a week before the feast – which works out at Aug 8th. This date is the most popular date in that church just because of the feast so I booked 6 months ago already!  Since probably this does not affect you, I would chose at least a Saturday date because a lot of people wont be working the next day and can stay longer without thinking about work the next day!  I did not attend 2 weddings last year because it was an 2hours away and on a Friday and I had to work the next day.  Also, you have to check if you need something or someone specific e.g. venue and photographer, they have to be available together!

For me, saturday is the best way to go. People can go out of work late for your ceremony on friday (unless you are having a 7-8 pm. ceremony. Plus, it can be hard to get there on time for you out of town guests. Job issues and what not.

BUT, July 31st is Harry Potter’s birthday so I am torn…

I’d run each of these dates by your VIPs (immediate family, wedding party if you’ve already chosen) and make sure the dates work with them. I’d be more likely to choose a Saturday because it’s easier on most people.

Definitely go with a Saturday if you can afford it! I’m partial to August 8th because that’s my date!  It’s during a meteor shower and if you add 2+0+1+5 it equals 8, so the numbers in the date are 888!

@FutureMrsO_MyImSoLucky:  I personally don’t care for Friday weddings, but I bucked the trend and had a Sunday wedding, so i can’t say much.

    If it makes a difference,

July 31 is System Administrator Appreciation Day

Aug 1 is National Raspberry Cream Pie Day

Aug 7 is both Beer Day and National Lighthouse Day. Double score

    Aug 8 is World Cat-Day

I wholeheartedly vote for World Cat Day. 🙂 Actually I like 8/8 better than 8/1.

FutureMrsO_MyImSoLucky:  I agree with PP that a Saturday wedding is the way to go. I’m so tired from the work week that I don’t like to do anything major on Fridays, and I suspect others may be the same way. I chose August 8th because 8/8 seems easy to remember 🙂

FutureMrsO_MyImSoLucky:  Im going to say August 1st because that is when summer is over and about to head back to school. Some schools might be back in by August 8th… if you have any with kids attending. It may affect their ability if they are travelling far.
