- Wedding: March 2015
I need some help 🙂
So, I am having a summer wedding in March next year (Australian summer). Ceremony will be in a lovely park and the reception will be at a yacth club.
Our colours will be red, navy blue and white with gold accents and the look I am going for is romantic, elegant and vintage glamour.
I know it sounds like a lot, but I promise you it’s coming together nicely 🙂
The problem I have though is the decorations for the reception. It’s goign to be a cocktail so I’m not looking for stunning OTT table centre pieces but I still want something a little wow.
Here’s some pictures of the venue:
Now, we won’t have all that space as we will have only about 50 guests. So they are closing the partition doors and we will have the left hand side of the picture plus the terrace/balcony:
We won’t have the garden below, just the balcony. This is the only picture I could find of it, alongside this picture of the building from the outside that will give you a bit of a better idea:
The balcony is at the left hand side of the building. From where it begins to where those plastic rain/wind protectors end (they will def be up during the reception as I really hate them!).
Also, the main reason we chose this place is the view:
Now, we are going to get a couple of cocktail tables for the balcony that I am thinking about decorating with small lanterns and we are looking at getting the balcony and ceiling of the balcony completley covered in fairy lights! (there’s your gold accents :)). Also, there’s going to be 3 massive old brown leather chesterfield couches so that will add to the vintage theme.
My problem is the inside. The carpet is already red so I don’t want to be doing anything too overpoweiing with my red colors. We will be getting 3 big round tables with white linen and chairs for people to sit around and eat/chat/rest. Here’s a picture of the size:
How on earth am I going to decorate that for a cocktail?!?!? I started decorating empty jars with lace and bought a lot of different size and shape glass candle holders (tea lights, stick candles…). I was thinking about filling the jars with candles and red or white silk roses or carnations. But I don’t think it’s going to be enough as there’s not going to be any cuttlery or plates on the table to start with… Also, I have no idea how to incorporate the blue in the reception…
The groom and groomsmen will be wearing blue suits and a red bowtie, and the BMs will be in red.
I have looked at pinterest and google but can’t find anything for a cocktail wedding without looking as if I’m celebrating the 4th of July or that we are wannabe sailors! (nothing against either of these things but I don’t want the wedding to feel like a flag themed wedding and although we are going to be in a yacht club, I don’t want it to be a nautical wedding either!).
I want some vintage, some glamour and some romance. I’ve managed to achieve it with everything so far, from the handmade invites, to the Galia Lahav dress I’m getting JBS to replicate, to the red carpet and decorations at the ceremony and everything else. The balcony at the reception is working out well but I am totally STUCK with what to do inside.
Please bees, I need help!!! I have exhausted all ideas!!!! 🙁
