Hi, bees, how many measurements are necessary for a custom made wedding dress? Some sites ask for 4-5 measurement while the other ones ask for 10-11!
FYI, the first five measurements are asked by almost all websites, so i believe they must be the really necessary ones. But the left 6-11?? Do you think they are really necessary? Would you bother to have them measured if you are buying a wedding gown on line?
1 Bust 2. Hollow to Hem 3. Waist 4. HIps 5. Shoe Height
6. Upperbust 7. Underbust 8. Apex to Apex(nipple to nipple, i guess? lol) 9. Shoulder to Bust 10. Shoulder to Waist 11. Waist to hem
Have you girls had any experience getting your gowns custom made? HELP ME OUT PLEASE ! THanks so muchï¼ï¼

I have made many dresses for myself and IMO they are all necessary. They allow for a more exact fit of the dress and they allow for the proper settings on the dress makers manniquin.

I think they are really necessary, but I have no idea on how to measure them myself! so I will go to a tailor to have them measured.

I think they are necessary to make sure the dress can fit you like a glove, but i might need a professional tailor.

My dress was custom made and it fit like a glove. I have a very high waist line so the dress was really made for me. It was more expensive in my case but since I was changing the train on the dress anyways it just made sense.

The more measurements you have to give them, the better your dress is going to fit. Go in to a tailor and have them measure every measurement they know of and just send them all.

I think the more measurements a seller requests, the more professional the seller is!

definitely go with the more measurements the better!!!! I had a custom chipao (chinese red dress) made and provided close to 15 measurements. it came and fit like a glove. I was the Maid/Matron of Honor of my friend’s wedding and all the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses were custom made in china. They asked for 5 measurements, and the dress came back totally messed up. It was super cheap (bride picked up all the costs) but it didn’t fit me and the bust seams were all incorrect. I ended up having to repurpose another Bridesmaid or Best Man dress of the same color for this wedding. Thankfully I was the Maid/Matron of Honor so the dress was different but fabric and color was close enough. I took it to 3 tailors and everyone said that they cut the fabric wrong and it was constructed badly.

hi,the first five measurement is a must, and for the rest it is better to provide as detailed as you can,but if not,the designer will be able to work them out based on the size you already provided.
