Hello again Bees!!
For those of you that recall my last post, im happy to annouce that alll is very well indeed. I took some advice from you ladies and it all turned out wonderfully…to those of you who don’t have a clue what im on about, no worries!!!
anyway!!! we have started the process of getting my engagement ring made, schubachs has started the CAD design and Beth told me that she has already picked out my stone. Thats my currently my problem….I originally wanted to have a 6mm cushion but as time went on, i decided that that since i had to wait so long that i would go up to a 6.5mm….because reasons. Ever since i made the call to start the process, I’ve been wondering if I made a mistake in going up in size. I know for some people a center stone can never be too big but im really worried. Schubachs even said that it was going to be a “substantial” ring. When i first started looking i know i wanted a larger ring, hence the reason for moissanite, and never thought i would have a ring that was “too big’ without it costing too much. The larger stone is in budget and my SO is happy as long as i’m happy
-finger size 8
-cushion cut fb moissanite
-being custom made by schubachs
-the halo is going to be more cushion than square

I’m a weird Bee in that I actually do not prefer larger stones with halos. I would go for the 6mm stone.

a size 6.5 will look fine! cushions face up smaller than other cuts like round for example, so a 6.5mm round would look way bigger than a 6.5 mm cushion. There are a couple of bee’s who have 8, 9mm’s and they look very proportional to the finger!
ETA:the bigger your finger size is, the larger the stone should be in your ring. (IMO)

I’m really not a believer in bigger is always better, but I have heard cushion cuts tend to run a bit smaller. I think the 6.5mm will look lovely and I doubt it would look too big on your size finger. I’m a 6.5 ring size and the 6mm doesnt look overly big on me, in comparison.
Maybe try printing out actual carat sizes, print and cut them out and try and see how big it would look. I know you can find one on moissaniteco.com

For sure 6.5! I think it will look just right.

if you have size 8 fingers, go with the 6.5. I used to have size 8 fingers, then I lost 40 pounds and a whole ring size (now a 7) and the difference in how big my stone looked was incredible (but I have a .5 so take it how ever you want.)

A 6.5mm Cushion Moissy is going to translate loosely to a 1.50 Carat Cushion Diamond… with the addition of a Halo it will read even bigger still (perhaps closer to a 2.0 or 2.5 C Diamond)
1.50 Diamond on a Size 8 Finger gives about 41% Finger Coverage
2.00 Diamond on a Size 8 Finger gives about 45% Finger Coverage
2.50 Diamond on a Size 8 Finger gives about 49% Finger Coverage
Big, but not out-rageous… see the “ideal” red zone on the chart above
Definitely too big for this girl tho… my taste preferences clearly are different from yours (we all are different).
I much prefer Quality over Quantity… and having a ring that doesn’t get in the way of my practical day-to-day life.
Hope this helps,
