Hi everyone! I am looking into upgrading my ring, but I am having A VERY HARD TIME choosing a ring! FYI: My center stone is a princess cut 0.5 carat.
Ring #1: (platinum) Double halo that I feel in love with, but the setting requires the diamond to be 0.75 carats. At the store they told me it would be ok with my diamond, but that you would see a gap. I would upgrade the stone by the end of the year so it’s not a HUGE deal, but it would definitely not look good for all these months. Also, this is the only one that does not come with the wedding band so I would have to buy the wedding band separately later down the road, making it even pricier.
Ring #2: (white gold) Cheaper than the other 2. I like it better than my current ring, but it’s not my favorite of the three. But again, it’s cheaper so maybe I should choose this one since the others are pushing the budget.
Ring #3: (white gold) The one that I was originally getting and in love with until I saw ring #1. Has more diamonds on the setting than any of the others.
I need help, girls!! My hubby is soooo tired of ring talk so I just need your advice before I go crazy!! THANK YOU!!

Another picture of the last ring because I think it’s too small to see in that picture above.
Ring #3 again:

The double halo for sure, it is beautiful. But only if you can upgrade the stone to a larger one at the same time. Otherwise, you should wait until you can do it all at once.

@MrsLS: love the first one. If budget is an issue, can they do it in white gold instead?

@purpledaisies: Or even Palladium possibly?

Because it’s an upgrade, it has to cost double and in white gold or palladium it won’t be double the price. I agree with you both though. I really don’t care if it’s platinum or white gold. Also, whoever is saying none of the above can you please tell me why? You just don’t like any of the options or you are just against upgrading??

I think if you’re going to upgrade you should go with the one you absolutely love. I think if that is ring #1 (which is my favorite by the way!) you should do as PP suggested and wait to upgrade the stone at the same time.

@MrsLS: if you don’t get #1, I will find you and slap you!! Lol Jk! #1 is so beautiful. The gap will not ruin the ring, and if you plan on getting a bigger stone later then it’ll be worth the wait! #1 #1 #1!

I would save up for #1 with the upgraded stone. I really don’t like airlines on halos so I wouldn’t want to look at the .5 in the halo for that long (I’m a bit OCD). If you’re upgrading, only get what you love, don’t settle for something you don’t like as much!

I vote for #1 mainly because it looks almost identical to my ring!! I love it!

If you upgrade to #1 in white gold or palladium AND upgrade the diamond at the same time would that make it the double you need for the upgrade? It might take enough off the setting price to change metals that it makes it affordable to change the diamond and do it all at once?

is it feasible to get a cheaper metal (white gold) and upgrade your stone at the same time?
Even if you don’t upgrade the stone right away, go with the setting YOU LOVE. It’s okay if you have a gap for a few months.

@MrsMc77: It’s such a shame because financially if I went with the white gold, I could upgrade both at the same time, but their policy is “metal for metal, stone for stone” so basically I would have to buy a piece of “metal jewelry” just for the heck of it, but I’m leaning towards doing that at this point.

I love #2-the detail is beautiful
