My DH and BIL both went through navy OCS recently. We got married well after OCS, but you could do it before. It depends on your priorities. You have to be married for your kids from another relationship to be dependents and covered by benefits. He might go home after, BIL and DH both got three weeks off to transition to their duty station/school. Not everyone does though. You can PM me for more info if you would like.

hey I’m active duty navy. i would not plan a wedding for the off time he might have immediately after OCS. if he is hurt or unable to complete in the normal time period (4 months) then he might not graduate on time. after OCS he’ll get time to move to his next duty station. if you’re already married before OCS then they’ll cover moving you and your kids as well (they get benefits even if he is not their legal guardian). does he know what he’ll be doing after OCS? flight school, ship, submarine, intel?

Hey dearest! Well in your situation I would get married as soon as you can to keep things safe. Everything is about paperwork in the military and marriage is something you want to get legally taken care of. As for your youngsters they will recieve benefits so don’t worry about that Laughing best of luck and welcome to the military community!

@evaundone:  when he is accepted to OCS he should immediately receive his class date. Supply school is 6 months in Newport RI. I hear its a beautiful place and a good station to be at even for just six months
