I think I may have made a big mistake. I got my dress a few months ago and I took it to the tailor to get it shorten. I am 5’2 and I am wearing 3 inche heels. I plan on switcing out to flats later in the evening but when I tried my dress on last week for a few friends they asked if I was going to wear a crinoline pettiecoat. I thought it was a great idea and when I looked back at the picture I believe it had a slip underneath. But now, I realized I already cut off 1 inch off my dress because it was so long. When I try the dress on now without the slip it is exact, you can see about 1 inch of my shoes in front when I walk. When I stand still it looks exact. Did I make a mistake? Would my dress now be too short when I add the slip? I justed ordered my slip online and it should be in within a week so I pray its not to short.

Can you have the slip shortened? If you don’t mind seeing your shoes it’s not a big deal, but the slip may show. I did the SAME thing for my first wedding, and my slip shows in all the pictures of us on the alter . I think if I had cut the bottom off of the slip (or shortned it however they do that LOL) it wouldn’t have showed as much…if that makes sense?

It depends on the slip but some can take 2″ up on your dress making it very short. I think at this point you will have to wait for your slip to get to you and try it on. If you decide you really need the slip you might have to get lower heels. Sorry but maybe you can find the best of both worlds! Good luck!!

Thanks ladies, I can’t believe I didn’t think of a slip before cutting. Also, thanks @Merrywidow I guess I can cut the slip if I have to in the end. Only time will tell.
