Girl, I have the same problem BUT with slightly bigger, uglier hands/fingers. my knuckles are what really make the whole scene grotesque.

Because i have larger hands, I wanted a split shank, too. Here aee a few pictures. Hope this helps!

Texasgal123: When I tried on the daintier bands, I thought they looked terible on my size 7 finger! I loooove my split shank, though, but it’s VERY subtle. Despite this, I still thought it looked way better on my finger than other rings I tried without the split shank!

mrssloan2013: Thank you very much! ;). Your princess set is beautiful, too! I love your halo. I was torn between princess and radiant and left it up to my husband by saying, “Anything square or rectangular, nothing round!”.

Texasgal123:

As a general rule, the thinner the band, the longer and thinner a finger will look. Everyone is different, but you may want to try a few things on, you might be surprised. Thicker bands tend to make fingers look short and stalky.

Another way to lengthen and lean your fingers is to wear a band that tapers in toward the center stone. If you opt for a split shank, get one that meets in the center like this ring from 1910

I agree with Jeravae. I wear a 7.75, and found the the daintier bands actually looked better on my finger then the thicker ones that covered up too much of my finger, making it look shorter. I ended up getting an e-ring with a 1.2mm band.

crackktheskyy: your ring is very pretty. Im not usually a fan of double halos, but yours is beautiful

I have size 9 fingers and I feel like thick bands make my fingers look big. I agree with Jeravae that thinner bands are more flattering, but I would also try a slightly bigger size. .25 increase in ring size may help.

chrys8890: Thanks so much! I was never a fan of double halos, either, until I tried this one on! I thought it was so strange that when ring shopping, I liked things that I never thought I would like and didn’t like what I had in mind!

I actually liked a split shank less on my slightly chubby size 6 finger. I wound up switching to a solitaire with a slightly tapered band and my finger looks longer and slimmer without all the chunky metal on it.

So I’m of the large fingered camp too! (sz 11.75 HELLO!). I am not a petite lady and I really think band is personal preference. That said, I didn’t want what I called “Super Bowl Ring” which is a bulky band and center stone. Instead I opted for a very dainty band and pretty petite halo, I think it’s just important that the ring FIT your finger well. The correct size stops your fingers from having “muffin finger” look and I think the ring is rather flattering.

My ring size is 4.5 BUT because I have not just a split shank, BUT a twisted split shank, along with 2 bands…topped off with the fact that my fingers swell in the summer and anytime my body is warm, I had to size up to a 5.
