This is my first post, I’ve been referring to this website constantly during the planning so far and have gotten so much help from all your experiences (thank you)! But I think I’m now in need of some specific advice.
My dress is strapless and will not stay up.
I bought it off the rack at a sample sale, and it mostly fit but just needed to be taken in a little and hemmed. I took it in for alterations, and when my second fitting came around I tried the dress on, it fit snugly and the length was good, so I signed a form saying it was fine and took it home.
Right away after leaving I thought I should have taken more time and moved around in it more to make sure it would stay in place, I only had it on for a couple minutes. So I’ve just tried it on again, and while it fits it definitely does not stay up. After about 5 minutes it had fallen down to where I would not be comfortable wearing it in front of people.
I’m worried for two reasons, one is that I’ve already signed and paid for it, so if I have to take it back in I don’t want to have to pay even more to get more alterations done. The other thing is I honestly don’t know how they’ll get it to stay up. The dress is empire waist, and then flowy from there to the floor, so they can’t fit it around my midsection for support.
Any advice? I’d prefer not to add straps or sleeves, but I guess that might be an option if absolutely necessary. Although, the alterations place said they were giving me the extra fabric they cut off and I just discovered they didn’t, so I don’t know if I will even have the matching fabric for that.
Any thoughts you have would be SO appreciated, I’m very worried.
