So I purchased the Lynnis dress by Maggie Sottero, and I am absolutely in love. The issue I’m having is I ordered it in Diamond White, being told that it is a soft white. Well its more of an ivory if anything, it came in and is very yellow.
I was told its easy to match the colour, but all the “diamond white” shirts the bridal store has are too white for my dress, and the ivory shirts make my dress look really bad. Then my flower girl dress had to be ordered in ivory (Its by alfred angelo) because its their ivory is closer to Maggie’s Diamond White…
I feel so defeated as I wanted a true white wedding dress and was told it would be “white”
Now the tie for my groom doesn’t match either, and to get the same colour fabric to my dress from Maggie Sottero will cost close to $300.00 to order and make a tie specially for my wedding day…
Does anyone know any bridal stores in their area that carry the Lynnis is a true white? It doesn’t matter where, I will figure out a way to get it here.
I’m willing to buy the dress off the rack if they do have it…I’ve been so stressed out over this, as my wedding is just 3 months away and they cannot reorder me a dress in time.

Why does the tie have to be the same fabric as the dress?

emstar168: I was wondering the same thing. NOBODY will notice that. I didn’t even notice if my husband’s was off from the color of my dress.

We put the stores diamond white ties next to my dress and they are obivously different colours. You can clearly see they are not the same, the ties are different materials and pick up the light differently.
I really wanted a white dress, I know it seems silly to others, but it means alot to me.
We are having a very formal wedding, and he would like to wear a white shirt and tie.

misszucca: If you want a white dress, then by all means get a white dress. Was the white not available at the store that you ordered from? Or they talked you into the diamond white?
However, in case this may save you some stress/heartache (having to buy a new dress or have a custom tie made), here is an old thread about ivory dresses next to grooms in white shirts.
