Ugh! So we were trying to do our thing in Chas, SC. Only to find out that my date is unavailable almost every where due to the bridge run. So I looked at cruises and am researching other places. I had to scale my budget back to between 3-4K for wedding and reception.. We will have about 70 people in total if we have it in Chas. That includes the wedding party. If we take it out of Chas most likely only my family and friends will show and almost 0 of his. So about 20-30. Even his parents won’t travel- my family is already all over the place so its not a problem for them no matter where we go.
Below are my must haves-
On the water – beach, harbor (his first choice because of him being from Chas) waterfall etc
No passport required
No cruises uuless married at a Port- I have no desire to actually get married on a boat.
Reasonable costs for my guests
If anyone can help or jave any suggestions please send my way!
We also jave about a $2000 budget for a honeymoon which we will get passports to go somewhere. Hopefully Australia. 🙂

God, I hope more people respond on this post. I have a similar situation. I haven’t really developed a budget yet (I just started planning), but I know I don’t want to spend an arm and a leg. And I want to do a destination wedding with around 50 people.
Have you looked at Wild Dunes in Isle of Palms, SC? They’re really nice, and while they have some expensive options, they also have some budget friendly ones too. You can check them out at http://www.wilddunes.com.

Yes I have been talking to almost everyone in the area. I emailed back and forth with the planner several times but haven’t heard nack since i sent my new budget last week…The Maritime Center is great on price but by the time I hire everyone separately to handle food decorations etc it ls going to cost me a ton. I don’t really care about Chas all that much. Spent a long time living there. I think going outside of there is what I really want. I was trying to make it easier on his family but in the ling run I think I might regret having it there. I always wanted Niagara Falls because its beautiful and I am from there but not really digging trying a March wedding up there! Lol So that is out.
Im looking up mountain weddings and some other options.

chaibella: So we found a much more budget friendly option for everyone. We have booked Memory Mountain in Mars Hill NC. It works out a whole lot cheaper for everyone for an entire weekendstay. We are having a Sat wedding so people can arrive Friday and settle in and Sunday they are free to explore the place. Fishing hiking etc. We have paid the taxes cleaning fee and security deposits for all the cabins so our guest only have to pay for their actual room. Its closer than Chas for most of the traveling guests and for 2 of the bridesmaids that were concerned about the cost of going to Chas. Now we are working on getting the invitations out so people have plenty of time to plan and have even gotten it so they can split the cost into 2 payments. Total cost is $300 per room. FOR THE ENTIRE WEEKEND!! 3 NIGHTS!!! Now I have a bridesmaid issue. Ugh. This is a 5 hour drive and Chas was an 8 hour. She is also the one who was planning on coming to my place for a few days soon for dress shopping and finalizing plans and also volunteered to watch my little ones while i was on honeymoon. All of a sudden she is hedging around and not answering texts. She only text me and said she would not be able to stay the weekend of the wedding based on a work schedule as of right now of her husbands. Said it would take a huge chunk of of their vacation fund. This is a few days after texting me to ask about making sure they are in a cabin with calm people and after already committing along with the other bridesmaids. UGH LOL
