We are finally shooting our engagement photos with our wedding photographer this Sunday and I’m not exactly sure what to wear yet. Could you help a bee out? I think I’d like to do two looks, one casual one dressy. I love bold colors. We’ll be shooting on the coast, just outside of Boston.
Look #1: Lilly Pulitzer Lace Skirt
Look #2: Jcrew Navy Lace Dress
Look #3: Jcrew Poppy Scalloped Dress (coming in the mail today, pulled photo from the web)
Look #4: Shorts & a white tee

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the lace skirt. But solid colours are generally better for photos, so I chose the first JCrew dress. Seriously though, love that skirt.

@hbean: I love #2 and #4!! Do you get an outfit change? I think #1 is too busy.

I love #2, the navy Jcrew dress! I’d wear different shoes though.
If you do a second look, wear the shorts and white tee…but get a different necklace since you’ll be wearing that one with the dress. I think your gold sandals look great with the casual look.

I like number 1 and 3. Some colour pop in the photos would be beautiful. But whats your fiance wearing? don’t want the colours to clash. ex. he wears red shirt you weasr the pink dress? yikes !!! lol

@hbean: I love the Lilly skirt but I am a biased, major Lilly Pulitzer fan! I would wear the Lilly for outfit #1, and then the coral dress for something a little more casual. Bright colors look good in engagement photos! Everyone does black, white, and plain colors. Why not be fun, fabulous, and bright?

I love 2 or 3 and then 4 as a very casual outfit if you switch it up. I love the skirt in #1 but it looks like something I would wear to my office.

I love the first – the colours will really pop on camera – and also the Poppy dress. Great colours.

Thank you for all of the wonderful feedback! I believe we will have time for at least two outfits. We are taking pictures in my FI’s parents’ neighborhood, so it will be easy to make a quick change!
FI’s Outfit: I have to choose FI’s outfits still. He’s a preppy, blue and white check button up, bright shorts and jeans kind of guy. So I may just have him stay in a navy blue color scheme so that I won’t clash.
Shoes: I am planning on wearing a nude pump or a sand strappy sandal — but both were in my car this morning!
I don’t look great in shorts…:My aversion to the casual shorts outfit is that I’ve never been a shorts girl. I have a more “athletic” petite body-type, and just don’t think shorts look great on me. I’m heading to the mall, so may look for a cute navy blue skirt to pair with the white tee.
@FLBlonde93: I’m totally biased too. I love Lilly and love bold, preppy colors. 🙂 🙂 I have two white Lilly dresses from last season that I’m so excited to wear for different wedding events!

2 or 3 would be best! Try to avoid busy prints as it may ruin some of the look of your poses. Not to mention, patterns can be dated. Solids are forever 🙂

Man, everyone here is right but i just had to vote for #1 because i’m in love with that lace skirt! But #2 is a close second for me.
