jessicaleo: I voted for the shared prong because it will sparkle far more than the channel set.

I also voted for 1 carat because if you can afford it, go for it. Diamond shrinkage sets in for a lot of women after they get their e-rings, and your size 6 finger is not so small that you can’t handle 1 carat.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

I voted for the shared prong 1 ct but I do wonder how stable those prongs are?

A shared prong is when diamonds are being set side by side and they share prongs instead of having their own separate prongs holding them in place.

Theamerella: see, that’s what would worry me. If a prong gets unstable, a bunch of the diamonds will fall out. But, I guess this ring has the shared prongs only for the center stone?

Just be sure to ask the jeweler about prong stability OP. I also hope the pave diamonds aren’t set in shared prongs.

I think either one would be fine. A size 6 is an average size and I don’t think either would be too thick. I’m not sure what age has to do with it. I personally prefer shared prong over channel set bands. As for the center the difference in .75 and 1.00 carat won’t be extremely noticeable. I’d go for whichever has the best specs for your price range

I am size 6 and have a 0.72 carat diamond. My wedding band is channel set and I’m considering changing my e-ring setting to also have channel set diamonds in the band. I like the look of shared prong settings but ultimately chose channel because the ring was more comfortable and I the diamonds were more secure. My wedding ring sparkles a lot so I wouldn’t worry about losing that if you choose the channel set.

I would be weary with their grading ugi certification. I’d stick to gia or ags

A size 6 is pretty average. I think you could do 1 carat if you wanted or cared to. But I don’t think the difference in .75 and 1 ct is that noticeable either. I personally prefer a ring with more metal showing because I think that looks better on me. So I think it’s all about personal preference. And I am not sure why you think a young girl wouldn’t wear a wider band? I know the style is very dainty bands these days, but you have to go with what you like best on your hand.
