    I am having a small (100 guests) traditional wedding in June 2012. My fiancee and I are getting married at our church, where we will also be having our reception. We are getting a local japanese restaurant to cater the meal since we love there food. I am having the biggest dilemma in picking favors. My fiancee's brother got married last december and they had a loose tea leaf bar (where you picked the kind of teas you wanted and dried fruits to make your own tea blend.) We thought this idea was so neat and would like to do something similiar. Originally I had thought about a trail mix bar since we are active but this idea dosnt really tie into the wedding. Lately our ideas have been to give out white and milk and dark chocolate fortune cookies since our wedding colors are black and white and our food is asian, but we are not asian and dont know if people will think we are trying to have an asian wedding. Other options we have come up with have been to give out neapolitan and/or smores rice krispy treats since we love those flavors, or since we are very involved in our church I thought about making a donation to a charity in our guests names.

    What would you suggest we do for our wedding for favors? What kind of DIY bars have you seen/think will sound good?

    The chocolate fortune cookies sound delicious! I wouldn't think you were trying to have an Asian wedding; I'd just think that they coordinated nicely with the dinner. :)

    I'd say trail mix bar or rice crispy treats - both sound great, and I bet your guest  would love them.

    I would not do the fortune cookies, however.  Fortune cookies are known as a Chinese food, and if you are serving Japanese food, I would honestly think they are a bit incongruous.

    @sarahbabs:

    fortune cookies: "introduced by the Japanese, popularized by the Chinese, but ultimately ... consumed by Americans."

    So congruous.
