Do you want something a bit uptempo or slower? We used Little Wonders by Rob Thomas for our first dance. You mentioned Coldplay. I like their new song Every Teardrop is a Waterfall. Could that work?
How about Hallelujah by Paramore? I used the Vitamin String Quartet version as my bridal entrance song.
That's all I can think of.
I have fallen in love with Feeling Good by Muse... its not an in your face love song by any means but it sends a great meaning... if thats too difficult to dance to... Michael Buble does a remake of that song, but its Jazzy...
So it's a little bit of an oldie but we are dancing to Your Song by Elton John...The words are beautiful for young couples starting out. Also, you said alternative but have you heard Ray LaMontagne. "You are the Best Thing" is my favorite. If we had not already picked "Your Song", I would want that. He has tons of other great ones too. Plus, if you like to be original, not a ton of people know him as much as Coldplay or other great artist!
Just sit together and listen to You Tube or Pandora until you both hear a song that just gives you the chills. I know, cheesy but it happens!
bon jovi all about loving you is my first dance song, not many people have heard of it most people hear bon jovi and think of always. but all about loving you is lovely, It has a really nice theme to it aswell, "Everytime I look at you baby I see something new it takes me higher than before and makes me love you more" but I advise you listen to it yourself because it also says "memories of me and you mistakes I know i've made a few" this relates to me and my FI's relationship it might not relate to yours
We are using "If I ever leave this world alive" by Flogging Molly. Another great song I've run into is a U2 redo of 'Unchained melody'

MY FIANCEY AND I LISTEN MOSTLY TO ALTERNATIVE ROCK. SOME OF OUR FAVORITE BANDS ARE (JUST TO GET AN IDEA) MUSE, NIRVANA,NO DOUBT, COLDPLAY AND SPANISH BANDS LIKE ZOE AND CAFE TACUBA.
