Its SUPER cheezy but a song me and my FI REALLY like is Smile by Justin Bieber... its so sweet.
A good way to find songs is to watch romantic comedys... this is where ive found a lot of my top choices... hope this helps
@Pappy8: I LOVE that you are doing Justin Bieber. Part of me REALLY wants to have a Bieber song somewhere in the evening but I'm still trying to figure out if I can convince FI.
I think we are going to use Coldplay's Yellow.
A great song is Ben Folds "The Luckiest" supppperrr sweet, I would use it but my best friend did for her wedding a few years ago.

Thats a beautiful version of the song, had never heard of Iz, but looked him up, it's sad that he has passed away.
I actually looked that PWT's song up a bit earlier - like it, but wont add it to my list.
You're so lucky that your brother is playing your song for you - im still working on my brother to play something for us, but he's rather shy so I dont think it's going to happen.
So, You and Me and Marry You are out as a friend I share many friends with used those tonight exactly how I decided I would :(.
I just came across a fab song though, which I'm adding to my list - Joshua Radin, Today.

I really love Ray LaMontagne's "You Are the Best Thing" and Bright Eyes "First Day of My Life"
Our first dance song was "Love Your Love the Most" by Eric Church but my second choice would have been "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls. Both songs are just as easy as slow dancing at a middle school dance, just standing there and swaying!
Here's some of my contenders so far:

Norah Jones "Come Away With Me" or "Those Sweet Words"
Van Morrison "Crazy Love"
Rob Thomas "Ever the Same (the itunes original version is very sweet) " or "Cradlesong"
We have a wedding webiste and added a poll for our family and friends to choose our first dance. We have a pick from both my FI and I and also 2 general picks that we like.
Can't say for sure we will go with the winning pick but I feel in the end we will do a mixture of them all.
We are thinking about using Honey Bee by Blake Shelton ...or "kiss me or not" by thompson square
We didn't have a song that we both could agree on. We went with Good Life by One Republic because we wanted to make it our own. We loved it! I originally wanted Can't help falling in love by Elvis.
@classybride2be we love that song too and as Disney is our honeymoon, we will be playing it at the reception

I have yet to suggest this to my FI but I'm leaning toward Miguel's "Sure Thing" that would sort of blend into Michael Jackson's "You Rock My World" - I need me some MJ for that very important dance :) Just need to figure out how to make the transition as smooth as possible..

I love Jack Johnson's " Better Together". We are using the Hawaiian version!
Lucky was our song until we found Jason Mraz I won't give up, which fits us so well. We also considered Leona Lewis Footprints, or Jack Johnson "Better Together"
It's not exactly modern, but I'm sure there are modern covers - Dream a Little Dream by the Mamas and the Papas, Louis Armstrong, many people have covered it.
We're using Wonderwall, Ryan Adams cover. We were actually planning to use Lucky before we chose this one, but the Glee version.

Hey Ladies
I know there are already a few first dance themed threads on the Bee (as i've gone through them), but new songs come out all the time so all suggestions are welcome.
My fiance isnt very comfortable on the dance floor as he has two left feet and no rhythm (his words, but very true words). Please could you suggest songs that are modern and easy to dance to.
Our top 5 songs so far are:
Jack Johnson - Better Together
Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat - Lucky
Lifehouse - You and me
Train - Marry me
Plain White T's - 1,2,3,4
We dont really have a song that we would call "our song" which makes choosing a bit harder.
