This morning after realizing I was late (I’m bad at tracking that since I’m not trying and am usually pretty regurlar/know when to expect it) I took a test and saw the ” + “! We’ve been married for 6 months and wanted to wait until our 1 year mark to take this step and planned a trip to Europe this summer as our last hoorah if you will. My mind is racing and I don’t know what to do next!
I want to try and make a doctors appointment to get a professional confirmation today because I can’t focus on anything else so was just wondering if you have to be a certain amount of time late and what to expect when I’m there? Blood test? Exam? Any advice on what I need to do would be great, I’m usually pretty in the know on things and am the one people go to for advice but I feel like because it’s me in this situation that I don’t know what to tell myself to do haha Please help!

My story is very similar to yours…We have been marries for 6 months when we found out we are expecting!
I did the same thing you did, took at home test, which showed positive- right after came shok. I decided to wait a day and took another test at home, it was the same result. That day i called my doctor and asked for blood work, they called me back that day and told me i was pregnant.
If i were you, i would call for blood work to be done and that will tell you for sure if you are pregnant or not and then depending on the result, you will either need to see the doctor or not.

Congrats! You’ll still be able to go to Europe as a last horrah, it will just be a babymoon now. My doctor of course did a blood test, but they had us do a whole orientation first. I felt weird doing that before the official blood test, but they’re so accurate now when you get a positive that they just go with that.

Thank you ladies! So nice to hear about a similar situation too! I called my ob/gyn and they can’t get me in until May 16th for an ultrasound/labs etc. since they like to do that at 8+weeks since my last period which would be next week so it’s just a few days later I suppose but don’t they know how I’m freaking out? Should I try my regular doctor for the blood test of just sit tight for the ob?

Congratulations! I mean, if you got the positive Home Preg Test, the blood test is likely a formality. I never got a blood test. If its driving you nuts, go to your reg doctor just for the blood test. Itll put your mind at ease until the 16th.
Welcome to the baby boards!

This is almost EXACTLY what happened to me! I took four pregnancies tests, yes that’s right…I said FOUR!!! All four were positive. It’s highly unlike to get a false positive I found out. I was in total shock. I called a few ob/gyn’s offices…all of the receptionists practically laughed at me when I said I thought I was pregnant and that I had four positive HPTs. I don’t remember exactly, but I think many of the doctor’s offices I spoke to didn’t want to see me until 7-8 weeks.
Congratulations!! You are in for the ride of your life. We were SO not ready to have a child and our lives are kinda in an upheaval right now, but I wouldn’t trade Kayla for anything!

I’m in the same group, we were just married 6 months when we got our +!
I wouldnt’ worry about “official” confirmation from the OB, if you want, go get another pee stick, they are really accurate.

@dchokiebride3 Thank you for your story! It’s definitely helping to hear others who were/are in the same boat! I’ve only told my mom thus far (husband tonite) and just because it’s a surprise to me still feel strongly about announcing to all at a more proper time, so it’s so nice to come back to the bee community for this support!
Besides the obvios no drinking/heavy lifting/operating heavy machinery is there anything I need to do/not do? Should I start vitamins now? I’ve tried searching for this online and seems like it is all discussed at the first Dr’s appt which I don’t have for 13 days (but whose counting).

Well you can kiss your soft cheeses goodbye. 🙂 Also, go buy “What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” it’ll be really helpful. If you have a cat, no more litter duty for you! Also, I think they almost recommend taking vitamins before you start trying now, so I think you’ll be okay with starting prenatals now, and your doctor will put you on different stuff if she doesn’t like your brand. NEVER take those on an empty stomach! Good luck and congratulations!
