I have inherited my stepmom’s engagement and wedding rings and they mean the world to me. The only thing is they are heart shaped 🙁 Any suggestions on how to have the heart stone set so that it doesn’t look so heart like? Faux settings perhaps? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I am open to all suggestions, except cutting it. I don’t want to change the diamond itself. Thanks!

Photos of the ring? I love heart stones, they tend to be a love or hate cut.

can we see a picture of the current ring and or diamond? That will help spark ideas 🙂

Right now, they are in the safety deposit box. 🙁 I know I have a heart solitaire and two diamond bands to work with on either side of the E ring. I have even thought about trying to combine it in another setting with an additional diamond that would fill it in and make it “pear” shaped.

I think bezel settings are the nicest for heart shaped diamonds, but that’s because I love the shape and that’s exactly what my ering is, lol. If you really don’t want to show off the heart shape, don’t get a bezel!
How large is the diamond? If it’s a smaller stone, just having it prong set will help hide the shape a bit…someone would have to look really closely to tell if it’s a heart if it’s like .40 or less – but again, I’m not sure on the size of your stone.
I know what you mean about trying to disguise the shape. Do you like pear shapes? Maybe you could get something custom pear shaped halo setting made, and have the jeweler “fill in” the shape with small diamonds above the curvy part of the heart shape? It’s kind of hard to describe what I’m imaginging…but if you did a cluster ring, with stones set all around the main diamond, you could hide the shape pretty well.

@brandi_uab: I just saw your reply after hitting send! I think changing it to a “pear shape” with melee diamonds and a halo setting is your best bet and a good jeweler would definitely be able to do it!

I agree with the bezel idea.
I’m having issues with posting links, but if you google “moissanite heart bezette” that’s the setting I have in mind.
