It is very hard to only invite a small group of people to a reception. Here is a suggestion I have. After your ceremony at your church/wherever you are having it maybe do a small reception with everyone say for an hour or so. Maybe have a desert bar or something that way they don't feel like they were left out of a reception that they just feel you had only a small reception. Then for the people you want to have at the other reception make sure ahead of time (maybe add a different insert in the invitation) that they are invited to a small reception at x o'clock. I knew someone who did that at my church and it worked our well for them.
Thank you that's a great idea and might cut the cost of having a cocktail hour and the reception location, maybe ill do punch, cake and horve dures (i know its spelled wrong) thanks

I wouldnt be comfortable only inviting a select few to the reception. One work around is to have a punch and cake reception for all invited to the ceremony? And then perhaps the next day you can have your smaller reception for the select few! That way, it feels much less "exclusive" of your ceremony invitees! Good luck! I know you can make it work!

Hey Ladies,
I Have a Question i want to have a Big Ceromony( all co-workers, family friends, college friends etc... at my church but we want a small reception (close family and friends). i would love to have both big but due to our budget this is not possible.
Does anyone have any suggestions?, or correct wording for invitations.
Please help very stressed on this topic...........
