I would definitely include a reception card or something with the info on it.

“Due to limited parking (or whatever), transportation will be provided from Hotel X to the ceremony location.”  Or something along those lines.

If the hotel is where they should drive to, I would put that as the address.  You can either do a separate reception card or simply put “Dinner and dancing to follow” or “Reception to follow” on the invitation.  I would include a card with your wedding website on it, and on there you can explain the timeline and locations in more details.  You should also let people know it’s on the beach so that they can dress appropriately, wear sunblock, have shoes that won’t sink into the , etc.

@Mick26:  I think if you put anything other than the hotel address as the main address on the invitation people will get confused.  They’ll probably put whatever is on the invitation into their GPS.  Maybe include a separate card with the instructions to arrive at the hotel and transportation will be provided to the ceremony site and reception.  I don’t know how much is in your budget for invitation, and adding more cards can get expensive.  Since you haven’t even sent out the invites yet, you can easily make a wedding website.  There are tons of free designs from weddingwire, the knot, etc. I’ve found them soooo useful for the weddings I’ve been to!

@Mick26:  If you don’t have a website, please consider putting a drop in card that says something like, “Please be prepared to attend the ceremony in the sand” or something.

Because if I wore a nice pair of nylons and heels, I’d be kind of pissed when I realized I was totally screwed for walking on the beach. I’d be perfectly happy to obligue with flats or something. But both nylons & heels? I’d feel like I was up the creek.

@Mick26:  Oh yeah, then it should be fine. If people know it’s outside, they can prepare and figure out if their heels will stick. It’s just the specific nylons+heels+sand combo that is particularly treacherous. ; )
