OMG I’m totally starting to panic. I ordered my wedding dress in March, and it is absolutely lovely – however I am scared I fell in love with the dress, and not actually what the dress looks like on me.
I am broad shouldered and relatively big boobs although can squash these down, but this dress has a high neck (although is backless) (it’s a Ronald Joyce 67011 if you care to Google) – but now don’t want to have my hair up cos I feel like an American Footballer, but worry that if i have it down it will ruin the effect….
well, basically – i just don’t want to look like a giant broad shouldered man as I walk down the aisle, and am now terrified I will. There’s no corset either which was my only saving grace in feeling thin on my wedding day.
Gosh, what if i’ve chosen entirely the wrong dress and i hate it? I pray this is just pre-wedding dress trying on jitters! Roll on August…
Any ideas to help my look not like a swimmer (which I’m not even!) minus cutting the neck of the dress would be muchly appreciated.

I have a similarly high necked dress, and I plan on putting my hair up. But if you don’t want to do that, how about a side plait or ponytail coming over one shoulder. Or maybe a half up half down look. I think you need your hair off your shoulders somewhat or it’ll look too busy in that area. But congratulations, it really is a beautiful dress!

@cazzasimpo: I don’t think anyone is going to confuse you with a footballer or a swimmer in that lovely dress!
You don’t have to wear your hair in a tight, high style if you want to wear it up. You can do something soft and loose like in the pic.

As for worrying about being too broad shouldered – The nice thing about your dress is that the wider skirt should balance out your shoulders nicely, whilst showing off your waist!

@cazzasimpo: I think you will be fine in your dress, which is beautiful by the way. I understand your worries though, I did the same thing. Purchased a dress without EVER trying it on. I have the same fears, my dress should be here today or tomorrow. I am worried that a V-neck line won’t be flattering on my bigger boobs, and broad shoulders.
Keep us posted on how it works out. Your dress is stunning. I love the high neck and the plunging V in the back. Post pics as soon as you have some of you in the dress.

what a beautiful dress!!!
I agree with the idea of a side braid (if your hair is long enough)
You could also do a nice side chignon so that your hair is up and clear of the dress. It will help break up the neckline that way too.

OMG, I never got alerted to your posts and therefore missed them and haven’t noticed until now when I googled something about high neck dresses and this came up lol!
Thanks so much for your responses! So i have actually since tried the dress on again about a month and a half ago, all is fine. At first i almost freaked as had my hair down and looked awful, and then put my hair up and was amazeballs!
The first time i saw it i decided to have my hair up with a shorter veil, but then with the long gap in between i started freaking and thought id only feel compfortable with my hair down and a long veil – ie. something to hide behind (not saying everyone does this, obviously it looks great with some dresses, but i was irrationally coming to this conclusion having not seen the dress and getting scared) – and having tried it on again, its definitely hair up in a high bun thing with a short veil….just looks rubbish unless…
eeek, getting scared now 🙂 how are all you guys getting along? xxx
