My step-daughter’s 7th birthday party is on Sunday at our new house. Well, it’s not actually new, it’s a fixer upper, but we’re about 75% finished. I’m a little nervous for it’s “big reveal” because there is so much that we still want to update. But I know it doesn’t matter because the focus will be on the birthday girl!
I’m just a little nervous because I’ve never hosted such a big group before, so I’m looking for advice. There will be 22 adults and 10 kids.
The kids activities include:
- bean bag toss in the back yard
- coloring (inside, probably around the coffee table)
- limbo (birthday girl REALLY wants this, haha)
And then of course the usual cupcakes & ice cream, gift opening.
I don’t have anything “planned” for the adults but I think that’s ok, we can all just socialize and drink a few beers… right?
For food, I’m planning to have a “make your own sandwich” station set up, with different types of bread, meats, cheese, lettuce, onion and tomato. And condiments. How much of each do you think I’d need for this many people? I was thinking of maybe doing PB & J finger sandwiches for the kids as well.
I have a ton of candy, fruit & chips (the theme is the cartoon “adventure time” which is basically centered around candy! the kids are gonna be bouncing off the walls!)
Anways, I’m not really sure what my question is but I’m just really new at the whole hosting thing, especially with a bunch of kids running around, so any words of wisdom would be much appreciated!!
UPDATE: I also wanted to ask for any yummy recipes you’ve tried for a drink to serve in our large glass pitcher. I was thinking lemon/cucumber water, or something along those lines. Thanks!
