I can’t seem to find a clear answer for this? Is it 8, 10, or 12? Just looking for everyone to be comfortable and have enough room to eat dinner. Not using chargers, but having a tree trunk centerpiece that is about 42′ round. Please help! Finding a clear answer for this one should be so hard!

8 is comfortable and ten is pushing it. We had nine at our table and it was pretty tight.

the standard for 72″ diameter is 10
anything more is pushing it.
Thats 22.5 inches each chair. (if they are pushed all the way in, which they are never) Standard chairs are 18″ wide.
where your arms are is atleast 6″ out from the table. That actually gives you 26.5″ each chair. Thats 4″ on each side.

Ha, we are doing 10 at 60″ rounds and my caterers insist they do it all the time (they do like 3 weddings a weekend) and it’s standard. I call BS but oh well.
10 at 72″ will be fine! As I see it, if they’re a tiny bit squished for the 45 mins of dinner, maybe they’ll get up and dance sooner!

10 on 72″ rounds… you could do 12, but thats pushing it!

My venue says 8, but we’ll probably do 9 or 10 at a couple to accomodate children.

10 at a 72″ works very well. 8 at 60″.
