We are having 4 20×20 tents at the outdoor part of our reception, we just got a quote from the place we’re renting things from and everything seemed pretty reasonable expect the tent draping was $2200!!! My mom and I thought there was a typo bc we never dreamed it would be that expensive to just drape the corners of 4 tents….and $2200 is more than it cost for us to rent the actual tents, tables, and chairs combined! So I was wondering if that is overpriced, or what is normal for tent draping and what everyone else has paid if you don’t mind sharing

Yeah, its just as or more expensive then the tent. But Im sure thats the full gathered draping which is super pretty. Make you could order bulk tulle on the cheap and drape it yourself?

But to answer your original question- I was/am looking into getting a large tent for my dinner/dancing reception. I thought I would do a tent with draping, then I realized how much the draping was- the price was pretty close to the sailcloth Sperry tent, which is gorgeous with wood poles and needs no draping so that is the plan now!

Brantly: our venue has a negotiated price with one of the party rental places in our area so it will be 1,500 for 1 big tent with draping and lighting. Didn’t realize how good of a deal we were getting!

Brantly: I second a PP and say DIY or have a family member do it if you could. Between my father’s friends who are helping set up and my godmother who is the coordinator we aren’t paying to have our tent drape. Mine will be two 30×40 tents put together. It’s saving us so much money if it’s you that will DIY or a close family or friend then it will be a trade off on time spent to save money ( thank God the venue belongs to a close friend of my father so we will have alot of time to set up since my wedding will be in the afternoon and set up will probably start the evening before).
