    Your setting is stunning.  Are you going to have the oval lay sideways like that?

    I love ovals, but I love rounds more. I’d go w/ the old mine cut.

    Is that picture your oval? I’m a round girl and I love vintage cuts but holy crap that oval is stunning!

    @NathansAmy:  well in that case I think you’re crazy! Lol. I mean that in the nicest possible way 😉 Old cuts are very popular right now, and they are beautiful, but that oval is phenomenal! Large, colorless, and no bow tie. Perfect oval. But of course, you have to love it and not me so go with what speaks to you.

    Edit: also, a lot of old cuts are not cut well, warm, and/or heavily included. It will take some work to find a good one. Not to say it can’t be done, but they have their own challenges.

    @NathansAmy:  I don’t like ovals that lay sideways, so if you’re going to go with it going up/down and you really love the stone, I think you should go with the oval (although I already voted old mine cut). Here’s the thing, the truth is – once that ring is on your finger, it will be so beautiful, I doubt you will ever look back and wish you had gotten the other stone. If oval is what you’ve always wanted and you really love the stone, I think you’re just getting distracted by old mine cuts. Stick to what you know you’ve wanted for a long time.

    Your oval is stunningly gorgeous and amazing!!!!! Most people don’t really know what an old mine cut is its just looks like a warm not so great cut to most people. your oval is gorgeous, Keep it!! I’m not sure how it would look in that setting though. When looking at settings I had never considered an oval until I saw this super thin pave halo oval setting it was stunning! cant wait to see what you choose

    @BlondeMissMolly:  I completely agree!

    your oval is amazing, and it would look great in your setting. It would take tons of time and effort to find an old mine cut that could match that oval! I don’t think you would get the same amount of sparkle from an old mine cut, and they always seem pretty warm.

    I have an 3 carat Old Mine Cut  and totally adore it.  I had my choice of a new stone of similar appraisal and chose the OMC.  It looks gorgeous in low light (they were cut for candlelight!) and is dazzling in sunlight!!   It is very special and I have received many compliments on it!

    OMC!!!! I’m based for antiques though as my setting is based off an antique ring (and my diamond is antique) :-)!!!
