So, my man and I have been together for two years (since yesterday!) We both graduated from College in December 2013 and moved in together in January of 2014. We talk about our future together ALL the time. We’ve already started planning on things we want for our wedding (i.e. size of wedding, theme, colors, and reception party ideas). I know he wants to get married to me but with school loans between the two of us, bills, rent, and him being on call as a AAA driver 24/7 it’s a little difficult for him to plan the proposal and getting money for the ring. I told him I wouldn’t mind if he tied a string to my finger and took me to the courthouse and celebrate on our 5 anniversary or 1st if we come into money but he is too old school for that and wants to do it right (his words). He already has my parents permission and everything!
My question is how do I wait for the day without letting him know its killing me that we aren’t married yet? Especially since it’s my family tradition to be married in June on a year ending in a 0 or 5 and 2015 is just a few months away already. I don’t want to be engaged for 5 years before my wedding and I don’t want to have a old school wedding like he wants that was pulled together in a few short months and it collapse into a complete disaster.
I could have SWORN he was going to propose yesterday (on our anniversary) because he asked me to get all dressed up and fancy and wouldn’t tell me where we were going, saying he was going to give me my gift at dinner and he didn’t want me to bring the present I got for him to dinner and he would open it either before or after dinner but not during. Found out the present WAS the dinner because the place he took me was so fancy and EXPENSIVE!!!! PLEASE HELP!
