Hi Bees!
I really, really need your help! Here's the deal......Six months ago I purchased the Watters Austin gown. I loved it. It was everything I ever wanted in a wedding dress. I couldn't imagine another gown I would want to get married in.......then I saw the Watters Torreon. This dress haunted me! I'm serious! I couldn't stop thinking about it. I HAD to try it on. I couldn't sleep until I did. Everyone advised me against this. I knew it was a bad idea but deep inside I thought "I can try the Torreon. It won't matter. I won't love it as much as the Austin. It'll just put my mind at ease, right?...RIGHT???.......ummmmmm NO! As it turns out, I think I'm in love. So this is where you come in. I've attached photos of me in both the Austin and the Torreon and I need your opinions. If I go with the Torreon I would have to sell the Austin. I should mention that I am wearing a Monique Lhuillier crystal sash that I purchased when I bough the Austin. I would keep that either way because I think it looks great with both dresses. Anyway, sorry for the long post but PLEASE HELP!
I think that both dresses are beautiful but I favor the first one more. I think it looks beautiful on you and you have already bought it so I would stick with Austin.
First off, they are both STUNNING dresses on you...so no matter which you choose, you will look amazing...I like the clean lines of the Torreon...the Austin (to me) isn't as symmetrical?...for lack of a better word :) Im not sure if its the unevenness of the (flowers/lace?) on the entire dress...but Well, I voted for the torreon. :) best of luck!
Thanks for your advice so far Bees! Just to clarify, the Torreon is the first dress pictured (with the lace/flowers) and the Austin is the second (more simple, ball-gown style). Keep the comments coming! xx
i voted for the Austin. I like it waaaaaaaay better than Torrean, especially on you! Torrean just looks too "cluttered" for me, but you look so beautiful and graceful wearing the Austin!
As much as I love lace, and I really am it's biggest fan.. I LOVEE the second dress on you. It just draws all attention to you and looks like it was made, just for you!
Dress #2 all the way. Wow.. you look stunning.
Oh, and I just realised now that the second dress is the original, I thought the first one(lace one) was the one you had. I was not liking be the one that says sell yours and buy another.. but.. I am so happy now-- KEEP the one you have!!!! It is just perfect for you!
oh i love them both. i think either decision would be a great one!
I looked at your photos not knowing which was which... Dress number 2 won, because it's so elegant, and also because you look really lovely in it. I love the way the sheer skirt drapes and folds... and I imagine floats as well!
My experience was a bit Old Spice- I looked at the dress, then back at you, then back at the dress, etc... :-)
With dress 1 I stay looking at the dress because I'm busy working out what's going on with the flowers and lace.
But that's just me, and in the end, go with the dress you love! (ie what does your gut say?)
They are both lovely, but the first one is just gorgeous and looks stunning on you. What a beautiful dress.
Oh geez, I went thru a lot of dress indecision too! I like them both on you. I think you look great in both. I actually like the Torrean because I love the appliques but at the same time, it is a little cluttered looking as someone else said.
I like the clean lines and sheerness of the Austin too. So it made me think of another Watters dress that I really loved and almost bought...
The Watters Florence - sheer silk organza layer with some flower appliques but much lighter than the Torrean so it's like a cross between the Torrean and Austin. :-P
Okay, sorry I didn't help but I just wanted to share it with you. You look beautiful in both!
You are having a simple vs. full-on bridal conundrum. Been there. I love both dresses but if you love the sash, stick with the Austin. It really clutters up the Torreon. If you still want something more elaborate, perhaps a veil with lace or heavily beaded trim?
PS - I do love both dresses!
I thought the second dress shown was the new dress, and I thought, oh, she should sell the first one for the second one. Then I read that the first pic shown was the new dress, so I say stick with your original dress! They both look great on you, but I love the original much more!
both are beautiful, especially form behind, but the first one (austin?) has the edge for me. I think the front suits you better and the back is TO DIE FOR!! It is such a romantic dress!
Now its haunting me! lol!
I went back and forth and back and forth... Yes, I love the simple lines of the Austin. However, I like the way the Torreon looks on you a little better than the Austin. It's more slimming--not that you need that--but it accentuates your curves...
The Austin looks beautiful and classic... The Torreon is spectacular.
Both dresses are amazing on you. I am leaning more towards #2 on you. I am normally a lover of lots of stuff on dresses but for some reason I really like #2!
As someone who has had multipul dresses I would suggest staying with #1. It looks stunning on you. It is REALLY hard to sell a wedding dress unless you pretty much give it away. The only time I think its a good idea to get more dresses is if you hate your dress and have the money to buy both dresses without selling one.
ooh the simpler one (second set of pictures) is way prettier. The other one ... I don't care for the lace or flowers or whatever is growing on it (honestly it looks like moss to me, haha....)
You look great in both dresses - they are both lovely.
I went back and forth. Initially I was team Torreon but I've just looked at the photos again and the Austin does seem to suit you better. The dress flatters you so much and it is airy and beautiful. If you choose Torreon, I would ditch the sash though, too much going on.
Team Austin! Good luck!
Personally, I like the top one (Torreon). I think it would look way better without the sash though, so if you do keep it I would lose the sash. The dress doesn't need anything extra! But it wows me, and I am voting against the grain here, but I love it.
Now what matters more is which do YOU love? I would go with your gut, I know I wouldn't want to be askign "what if" down the road.. but this depends on your financial situation. Only you can answer that, but if you can stand to take a loss (because you might not make back much in selling the first dress) and be happy with it in order to have the dress you want, then GO FOR IT!
I am kind of glad sometimes when I read these threads that I have such a tight budget! ;) For me, once I pay, I'm done, there is no more to buy anything else with! lol! I laughed at your title though because when I found a second dress (I haven't actually bought THE dress yet) that I thought I might buy instead of THE dress, FI and I nicknamed that second dress the "Betrayer dress". It totally felt like I was cheating!
That second gown is just so classically beautiful. You could never regret those pictures! And I think having the more simple dress allows you to have some really great accessories, a great fascinator in your hair for the ceremony or reception, a great necklace, etc etc. But I'm a more "classic" girl, anyway! They both look lovely on you, however. That certainly isnt a question
I would keep the Austin. It looks really great on you.
I would keep the original dress. I love the way it looks on you.
#2 for sure! I think it lets you shine rather than drawing attention to itself.
Austin just looks so romantic on you. The top dress makes your hips look weird
I like the second dress better. It cinches your waist more and will be gorgeous with a crystal sash to add a bit of sparkle. The other one doesn't do much for your figure, though it's a very pretty dress. I think you should stick with the one you have!
If you are definitely keeping the sash, then you should stick with the Austin. While the Torreon looks gorgeous on you too, I don't really like it with the sash.
You look beautiful in both--but I would stick with the first one. It's simple, classic and romantic.
@cliffette: haha, I did the Old Spice thing too. Look at the dress, back at you, at the dress, back at you.
Both dresses are stunning, and look beautiful on you. I love the ballgown ... that is my dream dress! It looks beautiful and special and bridal. Keep it!
I think the second dress is way better. I'd stick with that one!
Dress 1 is pretty and very unique but I don't notice you as much as I notice the dress, but in Dress 2 I see YOU, and you look gorgeous. Number 2 is my vote by far!
At first I felt bad voting because I thoght number one was the dress you had already purchased.
