Long story short- I used to be Little Miss Fit Gym Go-er. I loved fitness in college and worked out hard every day.
I graduated year ago, and work a big girl job. I leave my apartment at 7 AM and come home at about 7 PM. I never workout anymore. Instead, I come home from work and pig out on anything and everything. I swear to myself that I won’t, but it’s inevitable. I miss the old me and I feel out of control. And I’m GAINING WEIGHT FAST. About 15 pounds so far. None of my clothes fit me.
I think I don’t workout anymore/eat a lot because I have nothing to look forward to anymore. I don’t have to worry about wearing a tight little mini dress every weekend like how I did in college haha.
Can someone give me advice about how to stop oinking out and get back in the gym?

I go straight from work to the gym, this is the only way I can do it otherwise the lazies kick in and the minute I go home I won’t want to leave.
Keep your gym bag with you at all times.

Instead of going to the gym, you could workout at home. There are lots of exercise videos on YouTube that are great and effective. I recommend the BeFit channel.

@chicagoworkinggirl: oh man. I’ve felt like this for the last 3 months. I think I might have even made a post about it but im not sure lol. How long have you been working? Its been 3+ months of me at my first (full time, always on my feet, stressed, want to drink and eat everything) job and my body is just now adjusting to it. It took a lot of hard work, but now I’m finally back to losing weight again. (3lbs so far lol) I had lost 40lbs for the wedding and then gained 10 back when I started working. Pinning motivatinoal quotes (and all kinds of quotes) on pinterest is what helped me get back on track and allowing my body to make the adjustment.

Can you look forward to dressing up for work? I personally love the skirts, dresses, silky blouses, scarves… it’s no minidress, but it’s pretty fun to look chic at the office 😉

I agree with previous posters – keep your gym bag with you or look for workout videos on youtube! Or do something like pushups during one commercial break, situps during the next, etc. I actually do Tiffany Rothe videos on youtube and they are great! Ten minutes each, fun, and they go by very quickly.

I recommend packing your own meals and snacks. You won’t have to worry about the vending machines or drive thrus if you already have everything you’ll eat for the day. You can save so many calories and even a little money by getting into this habit. 🙂

Me too!!! I’ve gained a few since starting work… as soon as I get home I vege out because I’m mentally dead. I started at the gym again last week, I’m going with my FI so hopefully that will keep motivating me to keep it up.

i used to cook on the weekends and store the leftovers so I would have something healthy in the fridge I could heat up as soon as I got home, instead of being so hungry that I didn’t want to wait to cook and eating chips instead or something.
Also, I discovered the benefits of walking! I can’t ever motivate myself to go to the gym – it feels like such a waste of time and money to me – so I walk everywhere I need to go, always. Instead of taking the bus to the subway, for example, why don’t you walk to the subway instead? Or walk all the way to work? I find at least an hour of quick-paced walking a day keeps me at my normal weight.
ETA: I also completely understand what you mean about having nothing to look forward to! Sometimes I would spend all day thinking about how awesome my Indian takeout would be for dinner that night :/ I don’t know any way to help you with that (at least I never figured it out) but just know you’re not alone feeling that way.

@chicagoworkinggirl: I go for a walk everyday at lunch time so I get out and get some exercie and fresh air because I sit at a desk all day. I also bring my gym bag to work with me so I go staright to the gym right after work then home. Do you not eat food during the day is that why you go home and eat alot? Try eating small meals throughout the day so you are not so hungry when you go home because eating at night is how the pounds pack on

I know the struggle girl! I was in that same situation, come home from work and just put sweats on and pig out and watch tv. There was no way I was going to the gym before work and I really didn’t want to go after because then I wouldn’t have time for dinner or my own relaxing time. Workout DVDs literally saved my life. I have been doing the Brazil Butt Lift Advanced workout by Beachbody http://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/brazil-butt-lift-master-series-advanced-workout.do. I can get my workout done before I go to work or after and not have to waste the time driving to the gym. I would really recommend this workout especially since you can never seem to find the time to go to a gym.

While working out once or twice a week would be good for health reasons, this is primarily an eating problem, not a working out problem. You’re always going to be busy–with work, kids, aging parents, etc.–so there will never be time to work out like you used to. That’s ok. You can control this simply by limiting your access to junk food. Don’t buy sweets or processed foods, and don’t eat out more than once a week. Cook healthy dinners and make sure the only snack/dessert foods around are in their whole or natural form. No one binges on carrots/unsalted nuts/unsweetened yogurt/fresh fruit.

Check out this blog http://www.melissabender.com FAST workouts you can do at home with very little space but they’re interval/circuit workouts so they keep you burning fat even after you’re done.
Also, packing your lunch is huge you never know what kind of crap is hiding in even the “healthy” takeout food you might be eating. And what’s really important is never let yourself get HUNGRY, eat often 5-6 times/day but small meals ex. apple+peanut butter (natural nothing added), chicken + veggies, greek yogurt+ friut. The options are endless, I reccomend going to http://www.theeatcleandiet.com they have daily menu’s from REAL people, similar set up as the Bee. These two sites together have helped me so much and it hasn’t been that hard I’m still fairly lenient on the weekends but I’m still loosing weight 🙂 You can do it!!

I love working out before work–I leave the house exhausted, but leave the gym ready to go for the day!
