I used CaraSue Hall for Makeup and she was wonderful!  I also used All Ears Mobile DJ if you're looking for a DJ.  He was fantastic!

We also had a DJ and used Kahuna Sound--they did a great job.  http://www.kahunasound.com/

My hair and make up were done by Evolve: http://www.evolvehairkc.com/  They are amazing!!!

And photography was Lark: http://larkphotos.com/index2.php  Laura now lives in Chicago but travels back and forth.  Ann was actually our photographer.  Haven't gotten pics back yet but our e-pics turned out great.

I live in NYC, haven't lived in KC for 12 years, and am getting married there in Sept., so I feel your pain!  I chose CaraSue Hall for hair/makeup (trial is in Dec.), Jeff Holmes for DJ, Baber's catering for catering,Epagafoto fo photographer.  Oh - and we're getting married at Club 1000 downtown - we wanted a more "urban" feel for our wedding and it's a penthouse loft space.  We're checking with Hy-vee for flowers, but i've heard good things about Costco and Bella Flora.  The Kansas City knot board has been very helpful for suggestions too!

I'm sorry that EpagaFoto is booked, Jessica Roark is my photographer and she is AMAZING. If you like her style check out Heather Cole, she's got a similar style and was my #2 choice.

Florist is HANDS DOWN Erin Volante Floral. Not. Even. Kidding. Out of my 5 best friends who are married they have ALL used her and that is who I'm going with. She is very down to earth, unbelievably talented and will work with any budget. My fiance was laid off a few months ago, we had to cut back our floral budget and has never once made me feel bad for cutting the floral budget.

Anything else you're still curious about? There isn't much going on in the KC board so it's kind of exciting to have someone ask about it! ;)

    Dear Kansas Princess!

I will check out Heather Cole!

Thank you for your email! You're right.. there  isn't much on the KC board.. so i am so thankful there are some web saavy people out there in KC using this Wbee!

I contacted Erin Volante.. hope she's not too booked.

I am trouble locating venues!  Berg, Arts Incubator, ie.. -- places that allow outside catering are booked..

any unique places in KC (not too far from Westport , please, b/c that's where my caterer is from)..?

    THanks!

Oh that's too bad Erin was booked. You might ask her in an email if there is anyone she would reccommend, she knows a ton of vendors. Also I'm not a huge Knot.com person but they have a lot of venues on the website. I'm not getting married in that area so I'm less aware of the venues.

If Heather Cole isn't available, another option is KaeRae Photography, you might find her on her facebook page, or google her. She's got a similar style, she's a little newer but still VERY talented.

What kind of venue are you thinking? More modern? Traditional? Both ceremony/reception location? I'll ask around some!

Yay, hello KC brides! I wish the KC board was more alive. :) We are using Jessica Peterson for our photography. I LOVE HER work! Here is her website: http://www.jessicapetersonphoto.net She did our engagement shoot (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE) and we are meeting with her tomorrow to talk about wedding coverage pricing! She is very easy going and captures those intimate, unplanned moments!

@dreamrocker13 - A friend of mine is having her reception at Black on Burlington in KC. It is a brand new event space that allows catering. Here is the website: http://blackonburlington.com/default.aspx

    Hope that helps!

My florist was Clara's Flowers.  http://www.clarasflowers.com/

She works out of her house but it's an old family business.  I thought she was very reasonable and easy to work with.  I did silk flowers (that I arranged myself) for the church but she would have delivered.  She delivered the bouquets and bouts directly to where we were doing pics.  She even gave me an extra bouquet for the first half of the day since we did a few hours of photos.  She was concerned that the flowers wouldn't look fresh for the ceremony so we had my dad go pick up the freebie the day before.  I thought that was pretty awesome of her!  She also brought an extra bout for my husband so he could have a fresh one for the ceremony.

ETA: Her price for my bouquet (all roses I think $150) was the same as the village gardens.  We got the details from VG though and Clara's bouquet had TWICE as many flowers in it for the price.  # of flowers and size (in inches) of bouquet is definitely a question to ask!

    Has anyone used village gardens?

Their price seems reasonable, but i didn't see much pictures of their work.. which i found odd...
