We are having our wedding in a small town and there are no makeup artist. I don’t want to have to travel very far on my wedding day so I might get stuck doing my own makeup or having a bridesmiad help me. But I need to find makeup that will stay on all day and all night. Can anyone recommend a certain brand?

Urban Decay has great staying power, and they have a setting spray now that keeps like porcelin for the day

Sephora HD Foundation (also great b/c it won’t reflect your photographer’s light) with Laura Mercier foundation primer. I’ve used it for a couple weddings i’ve been in and it doesn’t budge, man. I set it with mineral veil. Fabuloso! If you use a brush to apply them, it stays on better, too–the grease/oil on your hands causes makeup to slide off, also.
Also–you can go to Sephora and get a trial makeover as long as you spend $50 in products. So buy what they use on you! And if it slides off, return it and try something else. They’ll show you how to apply it properly too.

My makeup artist used Cover FX cream foundation and then used a setting spray. My makeup looked fresh all day and night.

I already use the Make Up For Ever HD Foundation, but my make-up artist is using for the day of my wedding as well. I top that off with the HD Microfinish Powder, and it looks amazing! My make-up artist recommend I use blot powder from MAC for touch ups through out the night. I believe that she is also using pro-longwear lip color by MAC. I hope that helps!

I’m with fmcassity! Make Up For Ever HD foundation and HD Microfiish Powder are my everyday foundation and powder, my makeup artist will be using them for my wedding. MAC Blot Powder is one of the things I must have in my makeup bag. As for eye shadows, I recommend MAC, they’re really long lasting.

For the drug store, I’ve had great luck with Revlon’s PhotoReady!

If you’re thinking about using MAC I want to warn you to test the foundation BEFORE your wedding day. I did that soon after I got engaged and my face went crazy! I broke out more than I ever had before and it took a full 2 months before it was almost normal again.
I know use Origins makeup and skin care (also found at Macys) and LOVE IT! It also has great staying power and is all natural!

I really like Clinque products. I think you’ll have to just try a few things and see what works for you. So many people swear by MAC, but it makes me break out like crazy!

I third the Makeup Forever HD and HD Microfinish Powder recommendation. It’s very natural looking, and if it can withstand a Georgia summer, it can withstand anything.

Use a makeup primer! That’s how I get my makeup to stay put when I need it to. I use Smashbox eye shadow primer on my eyelids, and Monistat chaffing gel on my face. Sounds weird, I know, but it’s the same formula as Smashbox makeup primer for about a third the price. And it really works! …you might get some weird looks from the cashier at the drug store though…

I heard that the monistat chafing gel works great as a primer too, and was planning on using that for my wedding–is it just for the face or can it work for the eyelids too??
I’m using Estee Lauder extended wear foundation, the makeup artist at my salon said it lasts and holds up to heat really well.

@meggie808: I’m sure it will work on your eyelids too. I already owned the Smashbox eyeshadow primer before I had ever heard of the Monistat chafing gel secret. Otherwise I would just use the chafing gel on my eyelids too.

Make Up Forever HD foundation is really amazing, a great duplicate for that at a cheaper cost and that you can find at drug stores would be Revlon Color Stay!! I use that daily and its amazing!!

I did my own makeup and enjoyed experimenting with products before the wedding! Makeup Forever HD is incredible high-coverage long-lasting foundation, but it irritated my sensitive skin =( The HD concealor didn’t bother me and I used that to hide my perpetual dark circles.
Most of my products were from Everyday Minerals. I use their stuff everyday and it’s inexpensive, vegan, and fine for sensitive skin. They also sell mini sizes so you can test drive a bunch of looks. My wedding was outdoors at noon in June in Boston, so hot + humid. The makeup lasted all day with only blotting paper and lipstick touchups.
After lightly moisturizing, I dusted my face with Everyday Minerals Kaolin Powder as a primer. It’s a light clay so it soaks up oil and sweat from your face so they won’t make it to your makeup. I applied it more heavily to my eyelids to prevent creasing. MUFE HD concealor went under my eyes and on spots with a small nylon brush, and then I applied EDM foundation (intensive formula) all over with a kabuki brush, blending and reapplying in layers.
Eyeliner and lipstick were from the L’Oreal Wear Infinite line.
Mascara was Dior Show waterproof.
Eyeshadows, blushes, bronzers, etc. were all EDM.
I was shocked at how it lasted after ten hours of being outdoors. Primer is critical, whether it’s Monistat or clay!
