I love this site. Ok So I really love Ivy and Aster’s Duchess wedding dress. Im going to get it in off white or ivory–not blush. I will wear a fun sparkly headpiece and an amazing necklace but I want the skirt of the dress to have a little more fun. Now here is the problem. My FI is very much against BELTS. NO BELTS. So, do I add a alayer of sparkly tulle or something? Thank you guys. Be as creative as possible! Much love

@TheDuchess: what did belts ever do to your fiancé? Just kidding. I love the idea of a beautiful headpiece and long veil, and if you add some jewelry, you’ll have a great wedding day look. Are you wearing your hair up or down? If its down, go with a necklace. If its up, get some fantastic dangly earrings. You cold also find a vintage brooch for a little bit of interest at the waist by pinning it on the side.

How about a cathedral length scattered crystal veil?
Not necessarily one this elaborate, but you could customize it to your preferred bling level.

I vote for a sparkly crinoline/petticoat. Either something sparkly or colored.
BTW, that dress is stunning!!

If your FI is so adamant against belts I’d go with a super long statement necklace (33″) with some bling that would hit right above belt level… I LOVE long necklaces with simple unfussy dresses!

I love the idea of a beaded/sparkly caplet with a simple dress…
Kinda like this one I found…

That dress is gorgeous and so luxurious looking. I wouldn’t want to cheapen it with cheap tulle or overly blingy cheap bridal accessories. I love the idea of a richly and beautifully made bolero (BHLDN might be great to look at-…actually i think the one a PP posted is from there), or some beautiful statement jewlry. You could also do an intricate veil. I think keeping with beautiful materials and fabrics will complement the quality of the dress.

I LOVE the statement necklace idea. Maybe do a cool necklace in one of your wedding colors…
OR even an offbeat, unique necklace like this bride’s back necklace:
Good luck finding your perfect pretty piece!

I wouldn’t change a thing about your dress! But if you’re deadset on it, then I think a sparkly tulle is the way to go.

@TheDuchess: Beautiful dress. I’d say a coloured crinoline and a statement necklace

Is this considered a belt?
I added this crystal thing to my waist… ordered it from gloryshouse.com (under rhinestone embellishments) for about $30 and had it sewn on. It was gorgeous and super sparkly! They have plenty more of all shapes and sizes! The funny thing is that on etsy, you can find the exact same ones that someone obviously just bought from them and then sewed it on a piece of lace or ribbon and now charges $100+ for it… insanity.

@TheDuchess: i also tried on this dress and totally loved it.
something that brings a little bling to the waist looks SICK with that dress, and you can probably find something that isn’t as “belt”-like as what your FI is thinking. i’ve been toying with the idea of adding a brooch or bow on the back of my dress, for instance.
btw–anthropologie has really awesome hair accessories that could be used on a dress, so if I don’t use a family heirloom piece i’ve been considering something like this and just adding a pin. may work for you too and they get new ones in fairly often it seems if this isnt quite your style. http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/product/accessories-hair/26644757.jsp’ defer=’defer

Since you said you’re ok with some color…I’d do an antique brooch pinned at the waist – you’ll have choices like enamel or colored stones.

Ugh that dress is gorgeous! I would say NOTHING IS MISSING! It’s perfect as is.
If you’re not convinced, try a sash. Sparkles are your BFF. How about some long earings and a nice necklace? Pearl necklace? Ooh a veil! Always pulls the look together!
Do not stress it, girl. It’s lovely on its own!

@MissNoodles: …WOW.. that veil is amazeballs!
@TheDuchess: My FH is so against belts too..! I don’t know why?? They’re so pretty! I totally agree with a PP with adding bling onto the waist area… or a beautiful cathedral veil.. You don’t need to do much with the beautiful gown itself, but you can certainly have fun with blingy earrings or necklaces
