i am going to be doing the same thing tomorrow! we're going on a 7 night western caribbean cruise this weekend =)
i have never been to NM, but in FL we have those items all year long, but i am guessing it's not the same everywhere...i'd recommend (since you have time!) going to places like TJ MAXX because they have items that are out of season pretty regularly, plus spring lines come out in stores in January a lot.
We do have TJMaxx, but I've been there and they don't have anything. Since we're a landlocked state, we don't have swimwear year round. I could cross my fingers that stores start getting them in January/February, but I'd rather buy things before then.
Victoria Secret usually always has those things. Check them out online, the also always have free shipping deals too!
Have you tried Target.com? They have those summer clothes you are looking for. And it's easy to return anything you don't want to a Target store.
@Tulip - I swear I just checked Target.com a few days ago and they didn't have that much swim stuff up there. Thanks for the reminder :)
Oooh now I'm looking for summer stuff on there too! They have some retro swimsuits similar to the one you bought at Victoria's Secret:
@tulip: that's where I got the inspiration for the one I bought! I tried the target one on last season and it looked okay, but ddn't have the wow factor!
American Eagle has dresses and such in their online clearance section. And I believe J. Crew still has some flip flops. Just keep in mind that AE is juniors' sizing so you might need to go up a size. Gap has a few dresses/skirts as well.
Also, if you have outlets nearby, try those. I got a couple of tank tops for $2 from AE over Thanksgiving weekend.
What about Forever21? Their stuff is cute and very cheap :) Old Navy usually has cute cheap summer stuff... not sure if it goes out of stock online during the winter months though.
Have you checked consignment shops? There stuff is always out of season, so you should be able to get some cute stuff this time of year. I have to go do that this weekend actually!
check out the online sale section at Everything But Water. They've got Havaianas for $9.99! They also have some cute skirts to go with your suit.

I just realize that my honeymoon is taking place in February and there aren't many places to get cute sundresses and flip flops in the dead of winter. We're going for a week to the Bahamas.
I just bought my swimsuit (and I can't wait for it to come in!), but now I'm looking for some (inexpensive) cover ups, sundresses, and flip flops. Any suggestions on where to look? I'm usually pretty big on needing to try things on, but if an online store has a good return policy, I can work with that.
