So I know my wedding is still 7 months away, but I am restless and now that downpayments have been made and most things are figured out, I’m just stalling if you get what I mean lol
In my restlessness, I’ve decided to try doing my own wedding makeup. At this point in time, I’m not sure if I want to do my own or get it done professionally. I’ve talked to brides on both spectrums saying they either wish they had it done professionally or they wish they did it themselves.. So I have no clue.
Here are 3 pictures that I did tonight after work…it’s rough but a work in progress (Sorry about the gross work clothes lol)
The first is lighter eyes and lighter lips.
The second is slightly darker eyes and lighter lips.
The third is darker eyes and darker lips.
I can tell the difference but my friend says she cant :/
What did you ladies end up doing for your wedding day, or deciding to do for your wedding day, and which do you like of my makeup so far?
Like I siad, it’s a work in progress until I really know what I want.
Thanks ladies 🙂

OK they came out really tiny so I’ll upload them seperately…

I can tell the difference. : )
You look beautiful! I like the second picture- it makes your eyes stand out and still has some drama. I also think that the darker lip would look nice with that second picture eye. Choose the feature you want to play up and go for it!

@Audrey2_sings: Thank you! I really want it to look good in pictures and I’ve heard that it needs to be kind of heavy for it to show up, but I hate the feeling of a ton of makeup on!
I will definitely try the darker lip with the slightly darker eyes!

I love the first and second looks. You did a fantastic job; all of your features are hilighted and accented but you don’t look overdone. I’m DIYing my wedding day make up, and I think you would do a fantastic job DIYing yours, too! Make sure you use a primer and a setting spray, and I think you’ll be good to go 🙂

@Soon-to-be Mrs. Baranick: first, for what it’s worth I think you’re beautiful and will look gorgeous no matter what.
I also think that it really depends on how you are with makeup normally. If you’re someone who religiously does your own makeup and does it well, you’ll wish you’d done it yourself. If you don’t usually wear much makeup and aren’t very experienced with different products, it may be better to go with a professional.
I am someone who wears a full face of makeup every day without fail, and without trying to sound braggy, I’m pretty darn good at it! I went for a trial before my wedding and the girl was amazing! She did a beautiful job and I’m sure brides are very happy with her work. I ended up not using her and doing my own makeup because 1) I’m a control freak and 2) because everyone said that mine looked just as good when I did it myself. So I saved myself $300 on professional makeup, BUT I ended up spending that much on my own products to do my own. I also use the same stuff on a daily basis though, so I used it all up.

I did my everyday natural look
and I cried it all off 🙁

I can tell the difference but you look amazing in all of the photo’s. I think I like the third one the most. I do my makeup on a regular basis but I’ve hired a makeup artist for the special day.
I can see why people choose and don’t choose to hire a makeup artist. For our engagement photos we had a horrible experience. My makeup artist (at the time) was sick and replaced herself with a young lady who wasn’t certified. Didn’t know this until I looked like this coming out the session:
Can you tell I was unimpressed? I ended up bawling in the hairdressers chair/removing my makeup and doing it myself. I ended up looking like this after I did it myself:
I chose to hire a makeup artist for our wedding because:
1) I’m going to be too darn nervous/excited to concentrate long enough to do a good job
2) There are many things to take into account when doing makeup for photography/special events: needs to be a bit heavier than usual so the camera picks it up/certain makeup will look horrible such as sparkles/shimmers/anything with SPF/etc. etc.

What time of day is the ceremony? And what is the lighting like? I would suggest a lip color with less red if you do the third look. The dramatic eyes are very nice, but may compete with the lip color. Here is what I did. Purple and gold eyes, pink lips (think black, modern, Barbie LOL)

@Marlisle016: your makeup is awesome, way better than the pro.

I like the first one the best. You look beautiful, but also more clean and natural looking than the others. Maybe it’s just me, but the first one feels more “blushing bride” to me and the last one feels more “night on the town”. I guess it might also depend on the time of your ceremony. The later in the day, the darker the makeup.

@Sirenbee87: Thank you 🙂 I refused to let the bad experience ruin our e-photo shoot!

I never wear much makeup so I am probably going to have mine done at the salon but it won’t be much, just a simple updo and some makeup, not caked all over my face. I can’t even wear foundation or anything because it makes my skin burn. That being said, you look beautiful in all 3 but I prefer the 2nd one. It’s done up very well but it’s not too much. Congrats and good luck!

Can I just say, you have fantastic eyebrows?!

@Sirenbee87: Oh gosh, before I even seen the barbie comment I was thinking you looked like a barbie! So pretty.
