I am desperate and need help!! I am getting married next may 2013 and my reception venue is at Jericho Turnpike, NY (Nassau County). I really want to find a catholic church that is near my reception venue.
I have called some catholic churches near there and they keep telling me to do it at my church but my church I am a member of is about 1 hr away. Do any of you have any suggestions which catholic church near or around Jericho Turnpike, NY that will be open to letting me have my wedding ceremony even though I am not a member??

Get in touch with the parish the church is in. Getting married at a different church but within the same parish shouldn’t be a big deal. If it’s in another parish you would need to work out were to do pre-cana and all that jazz. I wouldn’t cold call churches, they are used to people seeing a pretty church and thinking ” Oh I wanna get married here!”. The diocese should be able to help you navigate this. Good luck 🙂

I posted this on your other thread –
St. Paul’s is sort of by there. http://saintpaulsbrookville.com (my aunt was married there 10 years ago or something in the middle of a snowstorm and the power had gone out, so they were married by candlelight. Very romantic!)
I would talk to your current church (if you are registered somewhere), and ask them if they will write you a letter of permission to marry outside the parish (most will). If you are not registered at a parish now, ask at the church you were last registered at (maybe where you were confirmed?). Then call the church you want to get married at and tell them you have a permission letter. That usually makes things easy because they know you’ve done your homework. Some churches are more lenient than others! The whole process is a little absurd if you ask me!
