What about having her do a reading during the ceremony? We had that with my sister (who was crying too much and her fiance ended up doing her reading) plus my husbands daughter.  It was a big hit and I think they both felt really special being part of the ceremony in that way.  We also had my sisters FI whom I totally love read a poem he had written specially for us.

Something like that might work??

akkaer1:  could she read a blessing for your marriage at the end of the ceremony? Either a religious one or secular (we had a secular wedding and found a nice one by James Dillet Freeman and just removed the one small God reference.) We had a very close senior family friend of DHs read this at the conclusion of our ceremony that we look up too and has been very supportive of us.

Yeah, I’m having my grandmother do a reading.  She was really honored when I asked her!
