Both Michael's and Target (and other places I'm sure!) have easy "kits" that allow you to DIY your invites - I'm pretty sure you'd have to use your home printer though, because I'm not sure if places like Staples allow you to bring in your own paper (I could be mistaken).
Or you could see if there is a Papersource near you - they often have "classes" on invite design for brides to be.
Good luck!
you can do it on publisher - if you make them just under A6 size (quarter of a normal sheet) and have them printed off either at a friends house or whatever then get some thin card in whatever colour you want cut them down the middle and fold them in half glue the peice of paper onto the inside right hand side and bobs your uncle!!!!
you can the do a photograph or random glitter or just a piece of pretty wrapping paper on the front.
get your family and friends to help too!
This site has FREE and really pretty invitations:

If you are worried about printer quality, you can always send them to some printer (like kinkos) and cut them yourself afterwards. I'm going to do my own invitations too...that's still month away for us though!
i bought mine at Michaels.. if you sign up for their emails they will send you a 40% off one item. I bought 1 one week and the 2nd box the next week.
Im just going to end up buying a printer (i need one anyways) I'm not sure if Kinkos will print them for you.. thats a good question.
But mine is a little kit comes with envelopes, RSVPS, Thank you cards.. and since i had the 40% off i only paid 20 bucks each box of 30 or 40.
I was going to recommend what neontl recommended. That site has very cute stuff!
I looked at Paper Source online and got ideas on my invitations. You can look at my blog and see what my invites turned out like and what I did and then let me know if you need more help.

Hi Bees!
I would really like to try to make my own invitations like so many of the other bees do,but i am completely clueless as to where to start. My printer is currently broken, but I can try asking my MOH if I can print them on hers..or..is it possible to make them on the computer and send them to staples to be printed?? And, how do I create them in the first place? Do I need a special program? Ill need invitations and RSVP cards
thanks so much for reading this and I appreciate any input that you have!
