My bridesmaids are wearing smoke gray, floor length dresses for my wedding. The wedding is black tie. Some have asked if they can wear flats. I completely understand and really don't care. But, I don't know what to pick, or at least show them as a suggestion.

    1) What color shoes should go with the dress (and could be worn again). The obvious is silver. My other wedding colors are pale pink, lavendar and mauve/champagne....

    2) Any ideas for what types of flat shoes would work and are not expensive?

Please post pictures of suggestions! Thank you so much!

Black or pewter would work and those colors are super versatile. I wouldn't go with pale pink, lavender, or champagne. Mauve would depend if there are any other colors to the dress (seams, small patterns, accents) that could complement with mauve. (clutch and/or shawl?) Silver might work but shoes should be of a little darker color than the dress; otherwise the combination may look weird and I don't know how dark "smoke gray" is. Silver shoes are also hard to find that don't look cheap. Nice looking silver shoes are often expensive too.

I also think flats are great. Since the dress is floor length and if there are no slits, heeled shoes really don't have a chance to be shown. You also save the headache of having to alter the dress length based on shoe height.

Actually any of your wedding colors would work for the shoes. Smoke gray is a great neutral.

Thanks! I would love to see pictures if anyone has seen pewter/gray/silver flats or nice yet affordable heels. I need at least one pair of heels and one of flats that go together, as some of the ladies will be wearing heels and some flats.

    So far I haven't found any :(

I love these silver heels from Stuart Weitzman (not cheap!) Chantelle.

As for flat, this from J Crew seems ok. I'm meh about it. This one looks cheap. Common problem with silver shoes. Maybe this would work?

This one from Kenneth cole looks kewl. But may not be as formal as you want.
