What about clear vases/bowls with lemons, water, and floating candles?  I’ll try to find a picture of what I’m envisioning.

@AW87:  Here is something I found online.  I suppose you could use material around the cube as well (you can get material for cheap at recycle shops or even the Walmart clearance bins).

“I started with Styrofoam cubes and clear-glass balls ($2 for a package of 6) from the crafts store. Using a spoon, I scooped out Styrofoam, just enough to secure the glass ball within the cube. I wrapped decorative packing tape (tapeswell.com) around the cube to dress it up.

This was a project I’d done for a Do It Yourself magazine story on budget-friendly ideas. The centerpiece idea below–under $5.{photo by Marty Baldwin}”

I’m thinking more of a bowl than tall vase, but this gives you an idea…

You could find bottles at garage sales or flea markets.  Then, get fake yellow flowers from the Dollar store. (I know I just saw some Gerbera’s at Deals recently).

Here’s another great idea!  You could buy some yellow cardstock and attach whatever type of embellishments you’d like (buttons, sequins, etc).
