What time is your ceremony? Is it at the hotel or will guests have to travel to your reception venue? Are you planning an hors d’oeuvres hour? We need a bit more information to try to help you.

@c_cat:  What do you mean “when do I put like drinking?”

Ask your venue if they have a minimum or maximum amount of hours the bar can be open.  Then decide if you’re having a cocktail hour?  Will you have the bar open during dinner?  And plan accordingly.

My venue told me all that when we booked….ceremony is 5-5:30, cocktail hour is 5:30-6:30, entrance into reception hall, dinner starts around 7, ends around nine (only wine service during dinner), then bar is back open at 9pm until 1am…..

@c_cat:  Well, what time does your contract say that your reception actually begins? How soon may your guests begin arriving? If dinner is being served at 6 p.m. sharp, are you able to have an hors d’oeuvres hour in an area outside of the ballroom from 5 p.m until 6 p.m.?
