Be careful about the diet you chose becase with some of these crash diets you may lose weight fast but your skin, hair, and engergy can be negatively effected and you want to look great for your e-session.
That being said, before i went to Mexcio last year i went on the South Beach diet and lost 5 pounds in the first two weeks. You basically eliminate all breads, fruits, sugar and full fat dairy for two weeks. After that you slowly reintroduce "good" carbs and fruit until you reach your goal weight. To fight flab i suggest lifting weights. Dont be afraid to go heavy, you wont get huge like a bodybuilder but you will tone quickly and boost your calorie burn for the entire day. Also add in some daily cardio and you should be set :)
I know this is completely a "crash diet" but those are always good for shedding weight quickly. Not saying this is the healthiest way, but Mrs. Dumpling blogged about the 17 Day Diet recently and I am wanting to try it. It is a book and you can find it easily on Ebay. It seems pricey, but it apparently is working for her. You do get to eat, but this book (from my understanding) limits your sugar intake and provides its own recipes to chose from.
Also, about the Alli pills...if you do go that route, make sure you are eating little to no fat in the first place. Follow their instructions. Since they block the fat from being absorbed, eating too much fat is what causes the....issues. My nutrition teacher spent a whole lecture on these pills.
ETA: I had a friend who did the master cleanse and raved about how great it made them feel. I don't think I could give up solid food for 10 days. And, in my experience, circuit training is the best way to lose weight and tone up. Pilates is also good for your core muscles and posture.
Try to get the majority of your calories from raw vegetables. Throw in some really lean proteins, and fresh fruit. All are filling, and naturally low in calories. Eat to Live by Dr Fuhrman is a really awesome book. I highly recommend it. It has a lot of recipes in it, as well. I need to reread it myself, since I followed none of the above advice over the holidays. ;)
Good luck!
Yayyyyyyyyyyyy. This is some really good advice. Carrots and veggies, here I come!
And since you don't have a lot of weight to lose, I would avoid crash diets and massive amounts of cardio and focus on firming up your muscles. I have found that I look about the same measurement-wise at a higher weight with regular strength training, and at a lower weight with no strength training.
Jillian Michaels' 30-day shred has gotten a lot of press for increasing strength and firming everything up in a relatively limited amount of time.I've only done the level one workout (it was free on my On-Demand with Fios), and it kicked my rear end for sure. It's a 30-minute mix of strength moves and cardio. Most complete 30-minute workout I've ever done.
And I can't stress enough that you should drink lots of water throughout the day to keep everything moving regularly and flushed out.
I have heard about alot of people having success with Jillian Michael's 30 day shred. My friend followed her eating plan and workout regime and lost 17 lbs in one month!
Thanks for the additional suggestions! I have the DVD but have a really hard time motivating myself to watch it. I ended up joining a really posh (and expensive) gym that is $160 a month. I do cardio for about 30 minutes and then weights for another 30. Sometimes I combine them with a muscle fitness/body pump class. I then reward myself at the end by sitting in the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. I love it. Too bad I can't stay a member of this gym forever. I'd go broke.
I've also increased my water intake by 1000%. I used to never, never drink water. Now I am up to about 4 16 oz water bottles a day.
Finally, I'm cutting carbs - I've been sticking to lean meats and veggies. I feel amazing and have dropped a couple of pounds in the last couple of days. My body feels great. I have no idea if it was from the bootcamp, the cardio, the healthy eating or the water. My guess is that it's a combination.
i am also trying to lose weight the healthy way. in the past, however, i used to take Hydroxycut. it helped to curb your appetite and give you more energy while exercising. so far, i am refusing to use it for my wedding, and i have lost weight, but still have 6 pounds to go. i am giving myself to March 1st, if i am not halfway there, i am buying hydroxycut. i lost weight in the past pretty quickly with it. just be careful, because after i got off it, i always gained the weight back!
If you are not really overweight in the first place, then it may be near impossible to lose 7 pounds in one month. It's really hard to lose weight once your weight is already down. Sorry I don't have any advice :( Just be careful and try your best!
I agree with using The Shred, everyone I know who has used it has ended up with great results. If you're not overweight, chances are you can't drop 7lbs in and healthy manner. But, I agree with the others that you can tone and toning makes ALLL the difference, especially in arms.
I did the South Beach Diet for one month before my wedding and lost 10 lbs!! It was reaaallly tough, and I have to admit that after the wedding, I ditched the diet and everything came back within 6 months or so... :( But if you're asking for a quick fix :P
Thanks, everyone!
***UPDATE!
I did bootcamp the first month, with healthier eating, but no weight loss.
Second Month (Feb) I cut carbs almost entirely and have been working out every day; a combo of cardio and weight. I eat basically only salads and veggies and some lean meats. I've dropped 4.5 pounds rather quickly, in about 3 weeks. I'm not sure whether it was a result of the January intense workouts or of the diet. Either way, I'm very happy. I've got more to go, but I feel great and my body is looking better every day!!! I'm proud that I've accomplished the weight loss the healthy way, but eating better and working out every day vs. diet pills (which I was definitely considering)!
Hey FutureMrsKelsey,
It sounds like you're doing fantastic! I thought I'd share the only thing that worked for me: portion control. FI and I ended up getting food delivery from ZEN Foods in Los Angeles - it's incredibly expensive but if you just do it for a short time, I think it's totally worth it. They deliver fresh meals to you and a nutritionsit talks to you about your goals and weight, etc and then they tailor the meals to you specifically. I was shocked at how much food I was eating compared to how much I should be eating if I wanted to lose weight! I followed the plan and lost almost 10 pounds the first few weeks (I'm only 5' so that's a LOT for me!) I'm also working out a couple times a week but I've been doing that for 6-7 months and the weight didn't start to come off until I did ZEN foods. For those people who don't have the patience to weigh and measure food and control yourself (ME!) it is a great service. BUT if you're on a budget it is really helpful just to REALLY learn what portion sizes you should be eating. It made a huge difference for me. Good luck!

Try the Extreme Fat Smash Diet- I lost 7 lbs in one week. You can get the book on Amazon.
Raw veggies, fruits and whole gains. I know it sounds easy but it goes a long way. Do some solid cardio and weight training - it makes a difference! Goooood luck!
omg, i lost 7lbs in 10 days - you've GOT this girl! I eat every 3 hours - yes, EVERY 3 hours. You have to keep your metabolism up. Don't starve yourself and dont deprive yourself either. I wanted ice cream, i ate ice cream & was back on track the next day. Egg white omelette w/a BUNCH of veggies for breakfast & a big glass of water w/a side of almonds. A granny smith apple with peanut butter 3 hours later. A whole can of tuna w/light mayo (my diet is gluten-free due to an allergy) and celery. A granola bar & blueberries 3 hours later, then dinner (same food that my FI & stepson-to-be eats but about 1/2 the quantity of what i used to eat). Gym 3x a week serious cardio for about 15 mins & weight machines for 30 mins. *Hint, you'll burn more calories at rest if you build strength in your muscles

I really need your help, Bees. I was all about losing weight the healthy way and have been exercising and eating healthy, drinking water, etc. My wedding isn't until July.
BUT - my fiance just got a job offer and will now be moving out of town in March and won't return until the wedding. We have to move our engagement session up to March - a month and a half earlier than I planned to take them. I paid a pretty penny for my session, so I want to be in great shape.
I need to lose about 7 pounds in one month and one week. I'm not overweight by any means, but definitely have a noticable belly (someone called me pregnant before), and a flabby butt and flabby arms. I'm desperate to do anything, even to use those poop-your-pants Alli pills or the master cleanse, or the cabbage soup diet.
Do any of you have a secret to losing weight fast? Honestly, I don't care whether its healthy or not. I just need results. After the engagement pics, I'll go back to doing it the healthy way.
