You're going to have to define "not super high end." Amy Kushel Bride probably qualifies. I'd also recommend the salon I used, Alexandra Salon. GL!
Thanks!
To clarify (super high end is not very specific!) Jin Wang and Marina Morrison are way out of my price range. Dresses 3K and under.
I want to ask specifically what's your price range. SF prices can be a bit different than other places. Personally, I am getting my dress at Amy Kuschel- I love it there. Prices range probably from 2k to 5k. If you are looking in the 3 to 5k range- I'd suggest both Bridal Galleria and Haute Bride. Saks, Jin Wang and Morrison are at the high end of that range too (I think).
Oh, and if you are around a sample size- go to Glamour Closet. There really aren't great places in the City for 'budget' gowns. Oh, and I wouldn't recommend Novella (again, unless you are more petite).
Thanks peeptoe. 3K is my ceiling. I'm not looking for budget gowns - just a steal! I live in LA so I think prices are the same - there's just way more stores in SF.
I made an appointment at Amy Kushel - thank you both! and I have Glamour Closet on my list as they just opened a store in LA and their selections are flawless.
Definitely check out Atelier des Modistes (Russian Hill). Its a couture shop (like Amy Kuschel). I'm getting my dress there...and I guarantee her styles are totally different than anything you've seen. It might not be your style, but worth a look if even just for the amazing accessories. FYI, Suzanne starts around $2K.
Priscilla of Boston just opened up the street from Amy Kuschel and they have a variety of gowns <$3K that are gorgeous!
Try Novella Bridal on Maiden Lane. They have Pronovias and Jasmine, with prices between $1K-2K.
I tried on a dress there for $1400.
Also the Bridal Galleria at Embarcadero 3, they have a range of prices and generally have trunk shows going on.
Hope that helps!
I second Bridal Galleria - they had a Marisa trunk show while I was there. Marisa gowns are both glamerous and affordable (in the 1-2.5K range).
Oh and make sure you take some time out for lunch! Nothing more exhausting than hopping in and out of wedding gowns. We did oysters and champange.
I went to Haute Bride, Glamour Closet, Bridal Galleria, and a few others that I can't remember... I wish I had made it to Amy Kuschel, but my schedule wouldn't permit. Ultimately I found my dress in Portland, after shopping in 4 different cities in 3 different states. Good luck with SF!
Thanks everyone!
I ended up at Alexandra salon which has been bought by Priscilla of Boston so all of the dresses are POB. Great way to say "yes" or "no" to this desinger. I found her dresses to have too many embelishments and too too heavy.
Amy Kushnel is such a pretty loft space and they treat you really well. If you are an incredibly simple dress for 2-3K, this is a great place. They make the dress on site to fit your proportions so no extra $ for alterations. Unfortunately it was a little too bland for me.
Glamour Closet was my favorite. I've been to the LA store and I had the same experience at the SF location. Their system is simple and super cute, the store is well organized and the fitting rooms are well, roomy. You never know what you may find there, and what the price will be. Most dresses are between 1-2500K.
No dress but great experiences! Thanks all!

Ah! I am in SF and there are so many bridal stores here and I have no idea what is good. I have one day to shop (tomorrow!) and I'm completely overwhelmed by the Here Comes The Guide list.
I'm looking for moderately priced bridal stores (not super high end and not Davids Bridal) - ideally a few in the same neighborhood.
Please help! Thanks!
