    Hello ladies,

I have a great idea I would like to do at my wedding, but would like to find out more info, like where, if any of you know, where I can get this done, have you seen it before (have u done this or plan to use this for your wedding) and suggestions on how to DIY...mind you, I really don’t have much skill as a DIYer.

I was recently at a wedding where there were a lot of guests (about 460), I don’t have THAT many guest, but regardless, I want to do this. Instead of doing individual placement cards for each, they have a huge(3 foot by 2 and half foot) posters (2), framed, with names alphabetically, organized, with a list of all guests with their table number next to the names displayed.

I thought the idea was genius.  It was very nice.  It went in alphabetical order by last name, and for example, there was a silver, much bigger, script, and bolded "A" to the left of all the "A" last names (which were written in black), then, next to each name was the # of the table the person (or couple) was seated at...the numbers were color coded.  All table number fives were red..and so on. **This was not hand written, it was typed out**

Then there was a space between all the "As" and then under it, there was the same looking "B".... and it was all in columns, which made it very easy and organized to read/understand. So the As were in the top left corner, and they made sure that NO certain letter last names started at the bottom of one column, and ended at the top of the next column. It was on nice paper, with a subtle pattern, like a marble look, and was covered with a glass framed and placed on a stand.

Any one know a place you can get this done, perhaps a site online, or a computer program you suggest to get in order to do this... as I do not know how I would print it using regular sized paper? Please let me know.

There are a lot of sellers on Etsy that will make these for you.  Just search for "seating chart."  Good luck!  :)

I am doing the same thing. I am going to design it with InDesign and send it to Kinko's for printing.  Picked up an adorable easel a few weeks ago to hold the seating "menu".

I second Kinkos or something similar, they print large posters like this for not too much money.

If you want someone to do it for you Etsy is a great place to start looking:

@Scottielass: what's InDesign? thanks for your suggestions/help!!! Appreciate it

Thank you all for your help.  I've found a few websites online, and will check out the Etsy.com site for more.  I have time.. considering i have to first pick on my inviations, send them, get my RSVPs, and doing my seating chart! Oh, all the little things.. I just like to have everything I need/want planned way ahead of time so I'm not running around like a chicken with their head cut off.. last minute!

Also, do any of you have good websites that have the order customized PocketFold invitations- i need to customize EVERYTHING, and are relatively reasonable in price?  I've found a few, but one had it so that you just got the envelops and inserts, with no printing or anything and it was $3-$4 each + I'd have to pay for the printing anyways. Then I found a great site, where the invitations were BEAUTIFUL, I could customize everything on the invitations, everything on each pocketfold.. and the price for a pretty simple one with just the RSVP card/envelop, reception infomation, and rehearsal invites for those invited (those went into the pocket folds) I already have registry cards and direction cards I can insert into slots- venue provided them for free.. and the cost per invitation was $9!!! I've seen others for 2-4 each, just not as customizable....and i have a lot of invataions so theres NO WAY I can do them myself, I just don't have time, and we have to send invitations out WAY early since a lot of people are traveling from Greece, Italy, and you need to book your plane ticket no less than 6 months before hand... so some invites will go out earlier than others...so that means these need to be made and sent by October! AHHH....

Can you find people on Etsy.com to make pretty much anything? I am a little hesitate to order them online due to the time constraint.  Oh yeah, I've also seen a lot of sites that make fan programs...my wedding is going to be outside, beach front.. and right before sunset so I have to have fans (ITS IN FLORIDA), so I thought it'd be cute to have our picture on 1 side with the date, and on the other the program- kill 2 birds with one stone, right? I've found several sites that make these.. again.. don't have time to make them (wedding will have about 300ppl), or the template to do so... any good website suggestions?? This one, I do have plenty of time on.. like I do with the seating chart.  Just recommendations that perhaps, you've used yourself? Reviews on websites and their work for me in cruical!!

A lot of info/question in 1 post!! SORRY...looking at my to do list as I write this.

THANKS YOU AGAIN for all of your advice!!! PLEASE if you have any infomation that you think will help me on any of the subjects above... I'd really appreciate it..

Feeling overwhelmed and weddings 7months away, but it's a complicated circumstance with a lot of guests, and a lot from out of the country + on a MAJOR holiday that is EXTREMELY important to Greek side of the family.

@splatt11x: InDesign is an Adobe software product, like Photoshop, that is used for page layouts (we used it in high school to design our yearbook pages). Chances are if you are not a designer by trade it wouldn't be worth the investment to purchase the program (it starts at $700).

Etsy has a feature called Alchemy where you describe a product you are looking for and how much you are willing to pay. Artisans on Etsy then bid to make that exact product for you and you can choose whichever one you would like.

I am doing this at my wedding. I am buying 3 large picture frames and typing up the list myself on my computer. I am going to have it enlarged to fit the frames at Kinkos. I am getting married pretty soon, so I will try to remember to post a picture here afterwards!

Check out this post in the DIY section: http://diy.weddingbee.com/topic/diy-seating-chart

A very kind bee decided to share her template and instructions on how to make a seating chart. Hope this helps!

Also, I would check Etsy for your paper goods. It can seem a little overwhelming but most of the artisans on Etsy are so friendly and helpful and will likely be just as responsive and helpful as a "big name" design website. Just make sure you check the sellers' "feedback" first to be sure you're dealing with a real professional.

@kirabee: Thank you! I am not trying to be biased or shunning away artisans on Etsy... I just want to be careful, that's all.  I have had a few friends who have ordered a few wedding items online from artisans (wasn't through Etsy.com though), and what they received was sloppy and a waste of money.  However, I've only heard good thing about etsy, and it is constantly recommended to me, sooooo they artisans MUST be doing something right! I will for sure read the sellers' feedbacks/reveiws. Oh, and thank you for site for the templates!
