I am not having an innver envelope so how do I inform address the envelope?
My idea is to say for example
Mr John Smith
And then on the rsvp say
“We have 2 adult seats reserved in your honour”
Does that send a clear message or does anyone have a better idea? I don’t want guests to be confused

How do I inform guests they are allowed to bring a date*

On the invitation are you writing anything? I would suggest “Mr John Smith and guest” there to make it clear.

Are you offering anybody “child” seats? If not I’d just do the usual “adult reception to follow” on the main invite and write “2 seats have been reserved in your honour” on the reply card. Or leave space like ” ___ of 2 attending”.

Write the names of those invited on the invitation. (Or “Susan Jones and guest” if you don’t know the name of the +1).

No one should be addressed as guest or +1. Each guest must be invited by name.
Call up your friends whom you want to extend the option of an escort, and ask for their name.
All guests must be treated equally.
