FI are eloping (in 9 days!). We haven’t told anybody the date. No one has a clue. (Our engagement was of course announced.) But he and I are torn on what to do about wedding announcements and reception invites. We are planning on throwing a big reception in roughly 2 months or so. (Absolutely nothing is locked down or planned.) I want to send wedding announcements out ASAP. Like, right when we get back from the honeymoon because I do not want people finding out we got married via Facebook. (Though I understand by the time wedding announcements go out, the news would definitely get around by word of mouth.) But he wants to sent out reception invites WITH the wedding announcements, because it would definitely save (hundreds of $$) on postage. But we don’t know details of the reception at ALL. So those wouldn’t go out for awhile yet.
Sooo. Do I send wedding announcements and reception invites out separately, or together? Or do I completely do away with wedding announcement cards, or at least limit them to friends/family that live far away? Is there a better way to announce a marriage besides Facebook???
