I saw from another post all the creative things you can do with Mac Pages (programs, invites, water bottle labels, etc) but I am struggling to learn it. (I have recently converted over from PC to Mac and am new to DIY). Is anyone else sharing my struggle? Are there any resources people can suggest as to how to learn it? Can anyone share templates or instructions for some of their Pages projects?

I recently got a Mac. I was timid about going from PC to Mac, but so far so good! I basically spent the first two weeks going to those Apple workshops (the free ones) to learn the basics. I am just experimenting here and there (for grad school projects). There are a lot of online tutorials Apple has posted on their website.

I highly, without-a-doubt-beyond-over-the-top encourage you to get the one-to-one Apple provides. it is $99 for one whole yr. You can make up to one appointment a week. Basically you can bring in your laptop or 'project' and they will help you with it, and teach you more specifics about graphic design, use of the programs the mac has. (the only set back is it depends on how popular your store is that you go to, that all the appointments might be filled- so then you have to go to a different store for you session. Which isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things).

The one to ones are nice though- because you maximize your use and understanding of your Mac. Which I think- $99 can ultimately go a long way so long as you use it!

I know they have some great programs that are almost idiot proof to learn. I used their web development tool to do our wedding website (and also paid the $99 to host it on MobileMe) and I have gotten a lot of compliments on it. But I have been struggling with making the transition to IWork. (AARGGHHH). I will definitely look into their one-to-one services.

I got the handle on iWork pretty fast. I have full confidence you will too! When I went to a workshop, the trainer guy was very helpful and knowledgable that I walked away knowing more than what I needed to know. Chin up, be patient... once you get the hang of it you will sooooo in love with your mac!!!

I've had my Mac for almost 3 years.  It was difficult switching from PC at first.  With Macs just thing of the most basic, easiest way you think something can be done, and normally its right. It tok a while to do that.  I had gotten so into the complicated counter-intuitive way that windows is set up, it was very odd. If you're near an Apple store, I second Sparkles' suggestion to attend the workshops.
