Hey bees,

Hubby and I are slowly getting into the TTC hase again as the first time it stressed me out way too much and I did not want to start a family in a forced way… I figured we would just start having sex just whenever and not preventing it as I learn about my cycles and learn how to chart. I’ve been reading a lot and taking a mental note of how my body feels and what it does but I just cannot seem to grasp a few things and was hoping those of you who have mastered it could give me a hand.

First things first is that I dont understand charting and I dont want to have to chart until its absolutly necessary but I want to learn to read my CM. Ive read and learned a lot of what it should look and feel like and when it should come. I dont yet know how long my cycles are as i’ve just started tracking them but I’m on day 16 since AF started and I’ve been looking and feeling for my CM and I’m not seeing what I think I should be seeing… 🙁 I have been consious of how my body feels and a few days ago (maybe 2… maybe 3) I felt some lower back aching and for a brief moment felt mild (very mild) cramping in my gut on one side and I know thats common for ovulation but the CM didnt follow as I’ve read it should. Am I doing anything wrong?

I know every woman is different… but any help is appreciated.

Really, the best thing to do is either take a class (Couple to Couple League, Creighton, Billings, STM, and I think several other methods too all have teachers) or read Taking Charge of Your Fertility if you’d rather go the book route. Many bees here love that book and have learned a lot from it. For me, I didn’t want to do the temping and all, so I’ve learned Creighton, which is CM-only. The other reason I chose that is because it’s associated with Napro Technology infertility treatment and since that runs in the family I wanted to be prepared.
Charting is hard to explain in a single post; too many variables! Good luck though 😉 It’s actually kind of fun, in a weird sort of way! But don’t be afraid of it…it takes me maybe 30 seconds each night, not exactly a big deal or hassle. And even after doing it a year and a half, I still have to go check the pictures in my handbook periodically, so don’t feel badly about being confused. We women are made to be confusing 🙂

Pappy8: I don’t know a lot about it because I only chart my temp, but maybe you aren’t producing enough CM for you to be able to chart it effectively? I have read some bees that take Mucinex during a certain time in the cycle to help create more of it. I hope some other bees that actively chart can help you answer your questions!
