I have been dress hunting for a full year since being engaged. I tried on the MS Divinia in blush and ever since that moment I wanted a colored wedding dress rather than white/ivory. I don’t know why, just something about being colorful makes me smile
I fell in LOVE with the Gemma replica made by Jasmine Bridal Shop in China. It had all the style requiements I want (and after trying on sooo many dresses I knew what I wanted). So I ordered fabric samples for a blush dress. Unfortunately, I didn’t love any of the color options.
A few weeks ago I went to the VW Flagship store to actually try the Gemma on. I had seen a bee on here who had a pic of herself in the Red Gemma. I can’t even describe the feeling I had when I put that red dress on. I was speechless and in awe!
So in a nutshell that is how I decided to be a red dress bride. Never would have thought, but it seems so right.
Here is one of the many Gemma replicas by JBS
And I have decided to go with red #61. #29 is too purple/pink in outside lighting and #61 is a nice dark red (not a bright true red but not a deep wine red)
Earlier I had made a colorful brooch bouquet (thinking I would wear an ivory dress I made this bouquet very colorful)
My question is: would this brooch bouquet be too busy with a red dress?
I have decided for forego a veil and DIY a rhinestone ribbon headband with:
I have gold heels and I want to keep my makeup very neutral/light. I have dirty blonde hair and very fair skin (the red looks awesome on me).
Is the brooch bouquet and rhinestone head band too much with the red dress? I don’t want to look like a kid who got a hold of a pot of glitter
If you’re rocking a red wedding dress, show us your accessories!

I would say yes to the headband but no to the bouquet. The focus needs to be on you!

@love108: yeah I think the rhinestone headband would look really nice.
I should have mentioned that we are having a really low key wedding. Four guests (his mom and sister, my mom and step-dad). So it’s really more about us and having some great photos taken.

@ralessio: I still think the bouquet is too busy. Just because of the pow of color you have going on! Or if you do a brooch boquet, keep it small and maybe metallic/crystals only, to go with your gold shoes, and not a lot of colors, like this http://www.dparkphotography.com/blog/2011/08/chapman-university-vintage-glam-stylized-wedding/011a-vintage-glam-gold-silver-wedding-brooch-bouquet/

@ralessio: I would pick two or three colors to accorize with. Here are a few colour pallete ideas;
Are there any combinaions that stand out to you and grab your eye?
I hope this helps.

@ralessio: Ohhhh… I can’t wait to see your dress. I’m sure it will be stunning. I agree with @love108 about the bouquet – I think something that is lighter and more monochromatic will really pop against your beautiful red dress. I was thinking a bouquet of cream peonies or David Austin garden roses? That would be so pretty!

@LadyWhiskey: I love the idea of cream or pale pink/peachy peonies. I think monochromatic would be a nice contrast.

I really love the headband but am not a fan of the bouquet. I feel like it takes away from your look.

@ralessio: Headband yes, bouquet no.

yes to headband no to bouquet. let your red dress shine! AND POST PICS! 🙂

First, how awesome to have that dress in red. If you’re wearing THAT dress then most certainly you should carry THAT bouquet. Not too much at all! The make up is great. The headband rocks and nothing else! I’m feeling like you’ve created a winner! Congrats!

@ralessio: I would do away with that bouquet & instead try a fresh flower or fabric flower bouquet. I feel like having a red dress is already really unique and interesting, & that by doing even more unique & unconventional things in your attire will move your bridal look away from “interesting & dramatic” to possible “crazy town.” lol
I think your bouquet would look lovely with white anenomes & renunculus, & some black colored berry spray 🙂 (idk what your color sheme is though..)

I would do a less colorful bouquet, and a small veil with your headband:)

@ralessio: I think that the rhinestone headband and brooch bouquet would work beautifully with your dress BUT I would not pick that particular bouquet because it is too colourful, like the other PPs said, and would detract from your dress.
Since you’re wearing gold shoes, may I suggest a gold brooch bouquet? That’s what I’m planning on pairing with my red dress. You’ll still get the bling and sparkle but it won’t add another colour component to your outfit.

@Miss Circe: Please share your red dress! I love the gold and red combo.
I fI end up not using the colorful brooch bouquet (which I already made) I will probably just do natural flowers. Rather spending more $ to make a whole new brooch bouquet. But a monochromatic gold brooch bouquet would be beautiful. I just wasn’t expecting to do a red dress before I made this bouquet.
