Looking to set a moissanite into a ring my FI gave me a few years ago to make a less blingy stand-in/vacation ring. The setting looks like this:
The current sapphire measures 4mm, so I’m looking at stones in that range (.25 ct rounds). Options are round brilliant ($60), cushion ($105), and OEC ($125, and obviously my favorite). With a stone that small, what would you set? Is it worth buying a fancy cut?

I think any of those would look great but I love OEC stones….I’ve never seen anyone that has one & I love something a bit different personally.

If you say OEC is obviously your favorite, I say get that! :]

@jdhall89: I understand you want a vacation ring but… wow! I really love that ring with the black stone!
I would go for a round shape – RB or OEC, as I think they suit the setting better. I feel like a cushion would make the ring seem too geometric with the squares on the sides.

My mom has an OEC that’s a third of a carat, and it’s just gorgeous. I think I would go with that if you plan to wear it more than once or twice. It’s a gorgeous cut, and it’ll look great with the setting!

@jdhall89: Go with the one that YOU LOVEEEEEE!
*aside: if you asking opinions, I would do a kite stone halfway around like what you have in your pic, or I’d do a round stone halfway…etc., since I’m a symmetry individual, if you are asking….
