Because everyone is built differently, you won't know anything until everyone tries on dresses themselves. Also, be open to other styles because what looks good on a model that you may like in a magazine may not look good on a real person.
If you're in a time crunch, take everyone to a local dept store and try on dresses in the special occasion section. They don't all have to match as long as they are similar colors or cuts.
I see that your wedding is in July. We are using JCrew dresses in silk chiffon (a different style) and LOVE the material. It is perfect for a July wedding...nice and airy. I don't think they would be too difficult to alter either and they might not have to be altered. I have 7 bridesmaids and no one needs alterations. It's nice that since they are from JCrew they run just by regular JCrew street sizes, not crazy wedding sizes like other typical bridesmaid designers. All my bridesmaid ordered their dresses online and got them within a few days.
I like the style of both of those dresses but I would choose the JCrew one simply because of the material for a July wedding.
(I realize that I probably sound like an ad for JCrew but I actually do just LOVE our bridesmaid dresses!)
Good luck!
Two of my bridesmaids were able to try on the BL Dress ~ Unfortunately, the JCrew Dress is an online only purchase ...
I love both!! I think that that the 2nd dress will probably look better on all body types.
Important information about the Bill Levkoff dress!
Have you or your Bm's tried it on? My friend was obsessed with that dress in the satin to the point of she wanted to order it. Until we all tried it on. The bottom half the dress is great. Definitley hides any imperfections. They bow on the back is cute as well. The only problem is the top. It sits VERY low on the chest. Too low to the point that me and two other BM's would not be able to wear it without showing way too much cleavage. I will say that the girls with small busts looked great in the dress, but it was way to revealing for us with bigger chests. And let me tell you that i'm not ultra conservative in any way just felt that i would be very self conscious and pulling the dress up all night.
On the other hand Jcrew. My sister used them and while she picked the silk taffeta, not the chiffon we LOVED our dresses. I was able to order a petite and it required almost no alterations. My mom just hemmed the dress a bit. Jcrew dresses are true to size. In my experience with BM dress companies you ALWAYS have to get them altered. You can order some of the dresses from jcrew in sizes for you BM's to try on. Just do it when they have free shipping (which they do alot) Then after they picked what size they want you can just take it back to the store and return for free with no problems!
Anyway long story short we loved hte look of the bill dress but it just didn't fit big chested girls (even girls that were a B cup).
Hope that helps!
I love the matte look of the J crew dress personally, but it all comes down to fit in the end...

Hey Fellow Bees ~
I am really struggling to pick my bridesmaid dresses and I am running out of time!
I have six bridesmaids including my MOH (sister) and one of my bridesmaids is going to be 9 months pregnant at our wedding. The two dresses I am trying to decide between are Bill Levkoff # 541 and this JCrew Dress. The Bill Levkov dress is actually less expensive (around $185) and the JCrew dress is $215.
Does anyone have any real life pics of these dresses?
My concern with the JCrew dress is that it is silk chiffon and will be very difficult to alter. If we go with the Bill Levkoff dress, we would order from the same bridal salon that we are getting the tuxes from which means they will probably be slightly more accessible if anything were to go wrong, etc - since we are ordering several things.
Please help me decide!
*ps* These dresses are slightly different colors of blue and I believe we can find vests and ties to match both dresses ...
